When you actually track your calories

I’ve decided that I’m losing weight. Short and simple I am just getting too fat and I need to nip it in the bud. I’ve found a great app that tally’s up your calories for you etc so it’s been a great day 1. HOWEVER, when I physically see my calories clocking up for the day I can clearly see why my waistline has grown massively. my today has been very carefully planned but if it was a usual day I’d have gone well over 5000k calories I reckon.
yesterday I had 2 M&S cookies
a Starbucks latte with a bun
a baguette with ham salad
a big bowl of sugar puff for breakfast
crisps
a dairt milk

it’s really made me think.

today has been Greek yogurt
salad with chicken breast
And for dinner I am having a baked potato with tuna and some cucumber
a small milkybar
and a Starbucks sachet

seems so little by comparison

Put some fruit in there, especially an apple or banana rather than berries. You might find this helps.

I completely agree. Have just started calorie counting and it has opened my eyes to how I have been overeating.

@CrickityCrickets I will do, thanks. Need to get my big diet shop done tomorrow and I’ll add my wee bits in. I’m just shocked at what I’ve really been eating

@MrsPatrickDempsey isn’t it really eye opening? I am really aware that I’ve been eating for 4 this last few years.

If the first bit is a typical day then be careful that you’re not too strict and ruin your healthier diet.

I am also calorie counting and started to read the labels more. It’s tedious but I’m finding gems that I can eat without guilt like this was my dinner for 485 calories and I had some veg so I was fuller (and because eating more fibre makes me feel more energetic) www.aldi.co.uk/product/000000000594516002

If your trip to Starbucks was to meet someone then it’s worth having a play on the app or watching social media on this topic so you can learn what to order to minimise calories. For example almond milk is the lowest calorie milk and syrups come in sugar free. I do this before I meet people for coffee so I can join in with a drink but also not consumer 100s of calories.

There’s lots of gym types who cook fakeaways and meal preps within fixed calories if you’re happy to cook. I was shocked what a portion of pasta looks like but I adjusted down over a few meals and top up with extra veg if I’m extra hungry. As I’m eating food I like, it’s been easier for me to stick to this.
