What are your symptoms please?

Severe left sided pain (left iliac fossa) pretty much every time I eat. Alternating constipation and diarrhoea, and when I get a full on flair, the pain is incredible, and sometimes with a temperature (usually need antibiotics then)
I've had it for years, it's bloody miserable. Avoiding some foods helps a little but if I could give myself a colostomy and cut out a large chunk of my bowel I would!

Oh that sounds awful you poor thing. Mine is much milder than that thank goodness. One of the things I really struggle with is mucus from the back passage, which is just awful and my GP has been pretty useless. Colonoscopy has ruled anything else pot, I'm at a loss really.

I have had diverticulitis for years and the same as previous poster either constipation or diarrhoea its awful.
However now I am on 3 months of iron tablets that are making it much worse.
So much mucus.

I get terrible pains in my bowels, so painful.. I sort of know what to avoid now. Last time I had to beg for a doctors appointment for antibiotics!

Not me but DH. After numerous horrid flare ups requiring antibiotics, he was advised by the consultant to take Prosilium Husk and Biocult. Both easily available from Amazon. That has sorted out the majority of his issues. He will sometimes start with a flare up if we are on holiday and he deviates from his usual diet (and drinks too much!) but 24hrs on white food only sorts it out.

This is so helpful, thank you, I had no idea that too much iron could cause the mucus @Mollypolly2610 . I have very high ferritin levels and being tested for hemochromatosis, so there could be a connection there I guess.

Definitely going to look into those supplements @Maryberrysaga , I've started taking a probiotic, but I'll honestly try anything.
