Do supermarkets still sell hot chickens?

I know costco do but I can't be doing with the queues just for a chicken.

I have all big supermarkets near me. I just can't remember seeing or smelling them for a while.

Not bought one for years and I am so bad at cooking meat but I know DD would love this today!

I have seen them in Sainsburys and Tesco recently

usedtobeaylis · 20/07/2025 10:49

Asda sells cooked chickens - cooked whole chicken, Chinese chicken, various other bits and pieces.

distinctpossibility · 20/07/2025 10:50

Our nearest Morrisons do too so I think there's a full house of supermarkets to choose from!

Yes. All those mentioned do and Morrisons

Thatcannotberight · 20/07/2025 10:50

We bought one in Morrisons recently.

Cleanmessyhouse · 20/07/2025 10:51

My nearest big M&S food does. They are ludicrously tiny for the price (not just any chicken, after all) but delicious.

Elbowpatch · 20/07/2025 10:51

Coles and Woolworths do. Same price.

Possibly not much help though.

Our local Waitrose sells hot cooked chickens (you can see them being cooked behind a counter).

Justlovedogs · 20/07/2025 10:57

I think you might find it is a bit hit and miss. Our local Sainsbury's used to but don't now, I don't think our Tesco ever did but Morrisons have them if you catch it right! I've took to buying a cooked one from the fridge section and warming it up at home.

That would be a good option thanks.

I will try morrisons first 😊

Thanks everyone

It depends on the store, our Tesco used to but got rid of the deli, bakery etc so now doesn't.

I’ve never ever had to queue in Costco for a rotisserie chicken.

TheCurious0range · 20/07/2025 11:59

Tesco as a company got rid of the counters, you can still get them in some asdas and most Waitrose stores, the big m&s food halls do them

Tip for heating in the microwave:
The instructions usually say place on a plate and cover with kitchen paper. I put mine in a glass casserole dish, breast side down, and pop the lid on for half the heating time, then turn it over, pop the lid back on and finish heating. Leave to stand for a minute or so before serving. Gets lovely and hot without drying it out.

MiseryIn · 20/07/2025 13:14

our Waitrose does and there is a serious scuffle for them on Sundays!

Crinkle77 · 20/07/2025 16:12

Tesco closed their butchers, fish and hit deli counter couple of years ago. Replaced it with a sushi bar. God knows why. It's not something I thought would be that popular in my area.

placemats · 20/07/2025 17:38

My local Waitrose does them, but you have to be early to get one on a Sunday.

Boxplots · 20/07/2025 17:40

It depends now as lots of supermarkets have axed them in certain areas. Asda is the only one that does them here now, theyre nice though!

Hothothotter · 20/07/2025 17:44

I went to three stores the other Sunday to find a cooked chicken and only Morrisons had them, not Tesco or Asda any more.

I’ve never ever had to queue in Costco for a rotisserie chicken.

I assume the queue is to pay to get out not the queue for the chickens . Costco cooked chickens are much nicer than the others and cheaper .

They’re truly delicious aren’t they?

boulevardofbrokendreamss · 20/07/2025 18:38

If you could call them chickens, they are more sparrow sized these days though

Hedjwitch · 20/07/2025 18:40

Asda does.
