Good Morning Everyone! What's everyone up to today?

I'm just finishing my first cuppa of the day, in my kitchen spot. Dd2's been down, fed the cats, made herself a brew and gone back to bed. I've got the washer on already for work stuff & there's a pile of pots waiting to be washed up 🙈 , I'll get to them eventually.

We have nothing planned for the day today! Dd1's off to work later on, and dd2 said she wasn't fussed about going anywhere or doing anything. I'll ask again next time she comes down but I think she's ready for the downtime of the summer holidays.

I have a couple of gifts to wrap,
will start painting some more peg people, and want to upload a couple more things to Vinted. So a nothingy, moochy, slow day here. I do really need to do a shop - we're running on fumes, so maybe I should prioritise that!

What about all of you? 🙂

We are having a lazy morning. I haven’t moved far yet. But a late night last night after dinner out. Teens seem to want to go to bed later than me which is new. I cancelled today’s outdoor activity as we are due awful weather. I have some ironing and a dog walk to do but I don’t intend to venture to far! Which I intend to enjoy. Have a good Saturday everyone.

Dealing with a broken down car in the arse end of France. Broke down shortly after arrival a week ago. Was supposed to have been repaired in time for our return ferry tonight. It isn't.
About to spunk €1000 on flights and have to come back and get the car another time.

First family trip since COVID times.
So much for a holiday!

Poonu · 19/07/2025 11:03

Morning all. Just back from Cornwall already put the bags away going to my mum's for the weekend with the kids so must prepare everything for work on Monday today. Although it's raining here I am loving the coolness. What I lovely thread I wish you all lovely people fantastic weekend and for those of you who are going through hard times I wish you luck.

Crunchymum · 19/07/2025 11:15

Morning all.

Just back from swimming round 1 (DC1 and DC3 swim at 9.30 / 10am). It was absolutely torrential rain as we left. I spent the whole time the kids were in the pool trying to dry our clothes. And we all had waterproofs and an umbrella.

Back home and off for round 2 with DC2 who swims a bit later. Looks like another torrential downpour is due about the time we leave.

Other than that we have no plans today though. I'm going to start ploughing through the washing and sorting our holiday gear as we go away next week.

May nip to the shops for some bits (we need berries and ice cream! The essentials 😁). DC1 is going to a friends so he will have dinner there. I'm going to do the rest of us fajitas.

A film and an early night later. We're all exhausted. Still 2 more days at school and work to go!

Good morning @lucysmam and everyone.

I’ve been up since about 8. Had a bit of unwanted excitement as had the patio door open to let some air in and a bird wandered in. Took a bit of time and opening all other windows and patio doors to eventually get it out. Last week a magpie came in through same door. About to start hunting for screens of some type!

Have emptied dishwasher and have a load of laundry on. Have quite a lot of bits to do. House needs a good clean. I need to empty veg drawer in fridge and use some stuff up. Wanted to go for a walk but it’s been raining all morning so far. Village flower/horticultural show is on this afternoon so I might wander down. Supposed to be going to a bbq tonight but DH can’t go due to injured knee and I can’t be bothered so will just stay home I think. It’s a fancy dress theme and it all sounds like too much effort!

I think I might try to sort out my Tupperware/drinks bottles drawer as it’s a bit out of control. Such a rock and roll life I lead! And then I want to finish my book.

No idea what’s for dinner. Need to do a menu plan for next few days.

JingsMahBucket · 19/07/2025 11:30

Morning @lucysmam and the Saturday crew. It’s been a while since I’ve posted on the weekend threads. I’ve either been too busy or too spacey to get my shit together to post. I’m currently still in bed but that’s because I woke up at 4am and didn’t get back to sleep until about 8:30am. I’ll crawl out of bed in a bit to have breakfast.

It’s pretty grey outside so it’ll likely be an inside day. After breakfast I’ll have a scrubby shower and wash my wash my hair then start tackling the dirty laundry. I also need to address the floordrobe and clear up all my errant clothes in the bedroom. Some meal planning and client work is in order too.

For dinner, I’m thinking ground beef quesadillas. Does halloumi work in quesadillas? Probably not right? I forgot to buy more cheddar this week!

Right, time for food. Have a good day everyone!

Sheknowsaboutme · 19/07/2025 11:47

Im off to watch the Snowdon race. By daughter is running for the first time! (Ive done it 5 times myself so know its a tough one). Hundreds of runners run up and down. International runners are unbelievable. They're back at the finish line in an hour or so.

then home for pizza and wine.

Kim82 · 19/07/2025 11:48

Good morning everyone, it’s the first day of the summer holidays and very warm and muggy but raining on and off here. Dh is at work, dd17 is still asleep I think and me and dd10 have just got home from the hairdressers. We nipped into town on the way home and bought some birthday balloons and banners as she turns 11 tomorrow!

I need to do some washing and hoover round the house and mop the floors before 4 of dd10’s friends turn up around 3pm. We’re taking them all to a trampoline place at 4pm then back home for pizza, general junk food, E numbers and fizzy drinks. 2 of her friends are staying the night and 2 are going home later on as they don’t do sleepovers which is fine. They’re sleeping in the living room so me, dh and dd17 are relegated to the kitchen all evening watching a film on the laptop. I can’t imagine anyone is going to get much sleep tonight! 😂

I’m having a quiet cup of tea on the couch before I have to get moving and start sorting the house out ready for this afternoon.

Jellycatspyjamas · 19/07/2025 11:52

I’ve had a coffee and got the dog out for a walk. My plan today is to give my bedroom a good clear out. So far I’ve been lying on my bed reading a book while mentally preparing myself to sort my shit out. Might need another coffee to get started.

Thislittlekitten · 19/07/2025 12:05

Afternoon. Just missed morning.

Hope everyone is well. We are on day 2 of our caravan holiday and it’s torrential rain 🙈. At least has swimming and now painting.

Lunch soon and hoping it’s stays dry for a dog walk.

Tonight kids want to go to arcade / entertainment and we had planned a bbq but will see

classiccake · 19/07/2025 12:08

I woke at 11.15am.
Now having coffee.
Been on the loo half the night.
So today's list is rest i have nothing to do. Also waiting to watch another episode of two series im watching.

BatshitCrazyWoman · 19/07/2025 12:14

I was up early, did some exercise before showering and getting dressed. Stripped and changed the bed, and washed bedding. Emptied the dishwasher.

Then I went to pick up a family member from his care home as he is visiting me today. As it's been raining like stair rods, we are going to get a takeaway and watch a film before I take him home again. We'd normally walk down to a cafe for some lunch, but I don't fancy it in this weather!

Dr13Hadley · 19/07/2025 12:33

Morning everyone!
We’re having an extremely lazy day here. Was an emotional and busy day yesterday with DS1 leaving primary and then we went out for dinner as it was also our wedding anniversary. All I’ve done today is put away the shopping delivery and quizzed DS2 on his times tables (because he asked me to?!?!).
DS1 is playing an online game with his cousin in Spain. DH and DS2 are playing UNO downstairs and I’m lazing about on my bed mnetting and reading my book.
No other plans at all for today. Just enjoying the respite from the usual Saturday morning football chaos we usually have. I think Man Utd are playing later so the boys and DH will watch that while I do more lazing and browsing on Air bnb to find a place to stay in Murcia next Easter for BILs 50th.

Have a good afternoon all!

DilemmaDelilah · 19/07/2025 13:40

Good afternoon @lucysmam and everyone. We went out to pick up some marrows from somebody in our area. I have been looking for marrows in our local supermarkets but they haven't had any, so I put out a plea on Facebook. I'm trying to lose weight and marrow is a good low calorie vegetable to have. Mr Dilemma isn't keen, so I will probably end up eating it for days! I may be able to persuade him to eat it for one meal, perhaps. It doesn't actually taste of much (and I say that as a supertaster) and I make a really tasty stuffing which he DOES like, so I don't know why he doesn't like it. It may be because it is (shock, horror) a VEGETABLE.

After that we went for a little mooch around a small local antiques centre, and a coffee, before coming home, by which time I was completely knackered.

We have been having some cat dramas. Our little cat is very elderly and thin, despite receiving the best of care and loads of good fresh food. She is also completely deaf and has dementia. Yesterday evening we had to go and pick her up from a neighbour who had posted that she was in his garden on Facebook and he wasn't sure if she belonged to anyone. Then this morning she wasn't there for her breakfast, we went out looking for her but couldn't find her. Then we got a call from the vet to say she had been brought in by another neighbour to have her chip read. He very kindly brought her back to us. She had been outside his house at least since 5am and possibly all night. It seems that her dementia is now so far advanced that she forgets how to get home. We popped into the vet on the way to get the marrows to get some advice, and we have been advised to keep her in now. She does love to go out, so we will have to see how it goes. I don't want her to lose all quality of life - she is near the end of her life anyway so I don't want her to struggle on as a prisoner at home. As Mr Dilemma says - it is one way to get to know our neighbours though! We have been here nearly 13 years and only know our immediate neighbours to speak to.

I've just had a cup-a-soup and some melon, and I've gone to bed for a rest and, hopefully, a nap. I didn't have a great night last night.

daffodilandtulip · 19/07/2025 13:48

Oh I haven't been on these threads for a while. Morning all!

We got back from holiday at 3am, then I woke with a shock ten minutes before I was meant to fetch the dog from the sitters. Rushed around to sort the dog out and have started the most depressing g post holiday job - the washing.

Going to cheer myself up by opening the trinkets we bought, then have a brew and a nap. Teenagers think it's ridiculous that I'm tired when we just had a holiday 🙄

Natsku · 19/07/2025 13:56

I haven't done much yet today, popped to the shop, did my ironing, washed my hair. In an hour we're off to a rock/metal festival, its an alcohol-free one to make it child/teen-friendly and free entry for under 15s so we're taking the kids with us (well, DD is going with a friend, not with us, but isn't too proud to accept a lift there because its too hot to walk)

DS is currently cooking jambalaya under the supervision of OH, as I bought him a cook book so he can learn to cook (I'm hoping OH will learn to cook too as a bonus Grin). Think I shall watch an episode of Sabrina the Teenage Witch with DD while the boys cook - I introduced her to it recently and its been fun.

claudiawinklemansfringetrimmer · 19/07/2025 15:05

Afternoon :) Went round to my mum’s this morning to feed her cat and put ant powder down- I popped in yesterday and discovered a sudden infestation of flying ants! There were masses of them in one corner, crawling up the walls and everything. Had to lock the cat up and mission for ant powder, not my favourite experience. Fortunately couldn’t see any more today but it rained over night so I thought I’d better put some more powder down outside as a barrier to stop any more coming in. Dread to think what would have happened if they didn’t have a cat as they’re away for 4 days and nobody would have gone in!

DD and DH are off to watch the ultimate robot show live (like robot wars I think) so I’ve just been hanging with nearly 2yo DS at home. Got some vacuuming and washing done and we had an early 00s emo dance party.

Baths for everyone tonight and a roast dinner. Then I’ll be gluing bits on DD’s dance costume for her show on Monday and catching up on Love Island I think.

lucysmam · 19/07/2025 15:54

We've had a super lazy day here. I've just got up from a nice long nap & made a cuppa soup (thanks for reminding me we have them @DilemmaDelilah !).

Dd2's off to the shop for some sweets now, then we'll make burgers for tea 😋
