Evening all,
I need some advice on an issue that is really bugging me. I don't think I have ever been so confused..
DS is currently at a private nursery happy and settled. He will get 30 hours from September and ideally I wanted him to start a school based nursery. I am working at a school at the moment and have put his name down for that school.
I am already finding things are getting a bit awkward with the whole teacher parent relationship. I have always said I wouldn't work in the same school as my children. But for the sake picking and dropping it's so much easier.
I have two options. I keep him where he is and pay £85 monthly for consumables, although he is happy there I feel he himself is bored of that place. Or I grit my teeth and take him to where I am and hope a)he doesn't get too attached to me and b) I am cautious about not crossing the line of professionalism.
I am in reception and he'll be in nursey and sometimes the staff overlap.
Anyone else working in the same school as their children and what are your thoughts on this?
Please be nice. It's been a long week. 😪
TIA.

Almost all the TA’s at our school have kids at the school or did have. And I know a couple of teachers who did too. In my experience schools tend not to put staff in their own child’s class. Will he be going to that school for reception so you will have the same issue in another year?
I’d do school nursery, if it doesn’t go well then you know you would need to find a plan B for reception .

Also school nursery prepares them for reception as they will do more transition, preparatory work and will be use to the environment plus already have established friendships.

ive not worked in my dc school but I have volunteered and I am on the board of governors. I have found I have to keep a professional head on when working in school and be realistic in my expectations for my child.

The bonus of having your child in your school is you can usually get to see their concerts/sports days. And the saving on childcare of course.

The other option is to choose a different school and horse a childminder for before/after school.
