I would.

ShyMaryEllen · 17/07/2025 12:58

At first glance, I think it looks lovely, but perilously close to the sea 😳. The study seems to be inches away.

I've got to go out now, but will have a better look when I get back.

I'll enter still but would sell immediately. I wouldnt want to own a 3mil pound house just to have close neighbours

manicpixieschemegirl · 17/07/2025 13:23

The exterior is a bit of an eyesore but the location and views are just breathtaking.

If I win I’ll enjoy it for the rest of the summer then sell.

StarCourt · 17/07/2025 13:26

it’s gorgeous

ShyMaryEllen · 17/07/2025 14:39

This looks like the Estate Agent listing.

I like it a lot, but there are a few things that I'm not sure about - not least of which is whether the land outside the bathroom is private. I'd love to have a bath with a view of the sea, but not to give tourists a view of me clambering in ungainly fashion in and out of it in the wetsuit I would have to wear for privacy reasons.

That study though . . . the views!

Oooh fab! Love an Omaze thread!

I think I will keep this when I win it. The view looks amazing. I could sit and look at it all year round.

FancyBiscuitsLevel · 17/07/2025 19:54

Ooh that one is lovely! Hmm, tricky as for a while they’ve been “straight on the market” houses, but I think I’d like to do a full year of holidays there.

MrsSethGecko · 17/07/2025 19:57

I like the bedroom with the sea view. However I'm still sulking because I didn't win the last London one, which was very nearly my dream house, so I'm not entering.

SarfLondonLad · 17/07/2025 19:59

I wouldn't take a house in Cornwall, any house, as a gift.

DilemmaDelilah · 17/07/2025 20:03

I would like to have it as a holiday home and to rent out to others as a holiday home, but I wouldn't want to live in it personally. I don't think the house is particularly attractive. The garden isn't as close to the cliff edge as it looks. The South West coast path runs along the bottom of the garden and there is a further bit of sloping grass on the other side of the path.

What I did find interesting is that the dining table only has seats for 6 and there are 4 bedrooms - most of the other houses seat at least 8 at the dining table. I haven't been able to tell from Google maps where one would park, either. I'm assuming there is some space just off the road but not much.

Porthcothan is a bit out of the way as well, it's quite a drive to the nearest big supermarket and it looks like the only things in the village are a tiny little beach shop, a McDonald's and a pub.

PoxyAndIKnowIt · 17/07/2025 20:14

I do like it, but it's a bit out of the way. I wish they'd do a house near me here in South Wales. I doubt they could find one worth £multimillions though!

I'm also still a bit sore about not winning the lastbLondon house.
Guess it might have helped if I'd actually entered.

Testarossa44 · 17/07/2025 20:17

Probably can't get any insurance on it being that close to the cliff. Have been told that's half the reason some of these amazing looking houses end up on Omaze.

FancyBiscuitsLevel · 17/07/2025 22:12

@DilemmaDelilah- from the zoopla photos, it looks like there’s a drive at the front that judging from the size of the cars at other houses, looks like it could fit at least 2 cars, possibly 3 if you are better at parking them than me.

ShyMaryEllen · 17/07/2025 22:33

Even if it's a bit remote, I'm sure Sainsbury's or someone will deliver provisions, and there is a walk-in fridge, so you could stock up. I don't mind having neighbours, as I think being alone in a deserted house would be scary. I'm not too keen on random passers by - particularly with those massive windows - but it's hard to tell from the photos (from Omaze or Zoopla) how likely that would be.

FancyBiscuitsLevel · 18/07/2025 08:07

The good news is all the scandal about “The Salt Path” book might put a few people off walking the coastal path down the bottom of the garden.

I bet it would be very dramatic in winter.

friskybivalves · 18/07/2025 08:18

Slightly unfortunate armchair profile. Great views but a lot of quite harsh decor. And Cornwall such a faff to get to and the locals dislike you when you do get there for a number of justifiable reasons.

I've also seen too many horror films to be entirely comfortable with so many big bare windows.

If you click Street view on the Zoopla link it shows the coastal path view clearly and a few walkers. It looks like a rainy day too as some have waterproofs on so it's likely much busier in nice weather.

Just had another look on Street view and the path seems to lead to a little sandy cove so I bet will be busy, especially in holidays.

I've still entered though!

Just some information for any subscription holders. I recently had an email to say they were putting my £20 monthly subscription up to £25 from next month. This annoyed me a bit - as well as not having won a house of course or one of the other worthwhile prizes! - so I decided to cancel my subscription. It is £240 a year as it is and the increase would take it to £300 a year. That is not a small amount to most people! I like to support the charities but I can do that directly.

When I logged into my account and clicked cancel on the subscription page, then clicked too expensive on the reason page, I was then offered a 50% discount for the next 3 months to continue. I accepted that as it means I will pay £12.50pm which is better than the £20 I pay now and the £25 they wanted me to pay from August. In all likelihood I'll cancel after the 3 months is up but it seems worthwhile to continue until then.

I hope this helps someone else. Good luck everyone.

ETA The Norfolk house is still tied up in planning problems tape by the sound of it and hasn't yet been passed on to the winner.
