London MNers, please can I have some transport advice?

I'm going to a concert at Tottenham Stadium tomorrow and need to get from there back to Kings Cross.

Does anyone have any advice on the best way to do that? CityMapper is confusing the issue by making too many recommendations, someone told me not to use the route I was planning to use as it's dodgy, someone else told me to just get an Uber, and now I don't know what to do so would really appreciate any advice from anyone who knows the area/route or has been to a concert or match there.

Thanks

The fastest and easiest way would be to get the Victoria line up to Seven Sisters and then a bus from there (I think either the 259 or 279). Should be quick - roughly 30 mins. The area around Seven Sisters and White Hart Lane is certainly one of the poorer/rougher parts of London if that is what your friend means by 'dodgy' but I wouldn't say a no-go zone or dangerous, particularly in the daylight and when there will presumably be lots of other people also heading to the concert, but then again I wouldn't say there's any part of London so dangerous you can't walk through it as a lone woman. But perhaps I have a higher tolerance/risk appetite than others. If you aren't used to cities I can see it might be a bit intimidating.

A compromise could be do the tube/bus route there then a Uber back if it will be dark by the time the concert finishes, or get an Uber but just for the to/from the station part not all the way (it would be a 45 min ish drive to kings cross from Tottenham so quite an expensive Uber). Also if it's a big and busy concert it might be a bit of a wait to get the Uber on the way back, which could feel more dodgy having to hang around the stadium than just following the crowd who will likely be heading back to the station, but you could make that call on the night and based on how you are feeling, will you be under time pressure to make a particular train? Basically I think so long as you follow basic safety precautions i.e. stick to main roads and well-lit areas, don't walk along with your phone in your hand or your bag hanging open you'll be grand?

Yeah, I'm not too worried about it being 'dodgy'. I figure bring sensible is good enough and there'll be plenty people around post-show anyway. It's more to do with which routes/services to take.

Thanks for your advice, the bus could be a good shout and possibly less hassle than train.

I'd take the Victoria line to Seven Sisters then the overground to White Hart Lane. Short signposted walk from there.
I don't recommend Ubers tbh. The capacity of the stadium is something like 60000. That's a lot of people trying to find "their" Uber (and a massive massive pita for those of us who live locally). Just follow the crowds at the end- you'll be well herded out. You might find you walk a bit further eg to Tottenham Hale tube- I usually leave stadiums during the encore so I can get off speedily. I'd watch for pickpockets as usual in crowds.
Have a great night!

That's good to know, especially about stadium capacity, thank you.

Going to the concert, Victoria/ Overground to White Hart Lane, or a bus.

Leaving afterwards, White Hart Lane will be very busy with queues. You could walk to Silver Street which is on the same line, one stop further out so you're getting on before the crowd, and then change at Liverpool Street (end of the line) onto Circle/H&C/Met to KX. It's a bit longer journey than going back via Seven Sisters but will probably be a little bit quieter.

Have a lovely time and I agree with the White Hart Lane train option.

TravelAdviceNeeded · 17/07/2025 16:39

Would Seven Sisters not be a good option? I was looking at Google Maps and I see it's a long-ish walk (25-30 minutes) but is a straight line from the station to the stadium. The area looks no worse than back home tbh, so much for 'dodgy'!

Yes it's a good option! especially for the way home

That's going to be the plan then, little walk and Seven Sisters to Kings Cross. It'll be around 10-11pm but I would imagine there'll be plenty of people from the concert taking that route too.

Thank you everyone!

I would definitely get a train back, and one that you can walk to but is further away from the venue is ideal. When a big concert lets out, it will bring traffic to a standstill round the stadium for some time. Buses will be rammed and delayed and Ubers will be all but impossible to find (and the surge pricing will be OUCH). It takes a couple of hours to fully clear the area after a Wembley show.

I agree that the area you will be walking through, while not naice, is not some kind of apocalyptic unsafe nightmare. There'll be tons of other concertgoers. Keep your wits about you and don't have your phone in your hand constantly just to be cautious, and you'll be fine.
