Silver cross pram won’t turn??

My silver cross pram’s wheels don’t turn?? Like if I turn left, they don’t swivel, they just go forwards and backwards and turning the pram is SUCH a pain, I have to tilt and manoeuvre it and it’s really hard. It’s not a super old fashioned one either, it’s the sleepover pram. Am I doing something wrong?☹️

Have you got the wheel locks on?

NuffSaidSam · 15/07/2025 16:34

I just looked at it...it doesn't look like it has wheel locks. It's also doesn't look like it'd turn particularly well, but I've never used that buggy so couldn't say.

sciaticafanatica · 15/07/2025 16:35

No you are not. They don’t have swivel wheels

There should be a clip above each of the front wheels that lock and unlock the swivel action.
Unless your Sleepover is the Classic, where the wheels are fixed.

I think it is the classic. How are you meant to use it properly then?😭

It's pretty obvious from the photos that the wheels dont swivel. Why did you buy it if that was a requirement?

Duiprinelloo · 15/07/2025 16:46

That's the disadvantage of choosing an "old fashioned" looking pram, unfortunately.

whiterabbity · 15/07/2025 16:46

@ScrewedByFundingI didn’t know you could get prams that DIDNT swivel. Literally never heard of that. Also bought it second hand so there wasn’t a description as such that said it didn’t swivel.

Which frame have you got? The linear or the classic? IIRC the linear has swivel wheels. The classic doesn't.

Memories, I had the classic chassis with fixed wheels and found I just got into the rhythm of how much of a bump it needed to turn. A little push to lift up the front wheels and turn on the back ones. Does get a bit harder with a toddler and basket full of shopping though! Our local pavement is so bumpy I found I preffered the fix wheels over swivel and even when we switched to a buggy I used to keep the wheels locked.

If it's the linear chassis though, the the wheels should turn and you may either have the wheels locked or they may need a good clean and some WD40 or similar. There's a catch under the wheel to lock them in place

This is it, is it very obvious?😓 I am assuming it’s the classic but could be wrong.

Yes, that's the classic with fixed wheels.

Thatcannotberight · 15/07/2025 16:53

I inherited one with DS2. You get used to sort of leaning/putting pressure on one side of the handle to make it veer or go gently round corners, but you definitely do have to tilt it back a bit on to the back wheels to pivot it sometimes. It was fantastic for shopping with the huge basket underneath. But I did have an all terrain 3 wheeler for dog walks. I did hate my buggy with spinning wheels though, I always locked them off. 😬🤣

PractisingMyTelekenipsis · 15/07/2025 16:53

Yes that's the classic. You just need to push down a little on the handlebar to raise the front wheels. I had a fixed wheel with my eldest and it was easy.

mrsh2025 · 15/07/2025 16:53

Yes it doesn’t have swivel wheels, I had one for my youngest you have to find it too slightly and move, was a little awkward but you get used to it and worth it for such a comfortable pram

LunchWithAGruffalo · 15/07/2025 16:57

Play around with the adjustable handle, I remember finding "my" setting and not finding it so easy to steer if Dzh had adjusted it. A little bit lower than you first think can make it easier to push down to lift the front wheels.

Once you've got it, they're lovely prams to push and bounch over rough pavement so we'll.

Not small though, ours was affectionately nick named the beast!

whiterabbity · 15/07/2025 17:07

Hopefully I’ll learn how to get the hang of it, I feel so stupid ☹️ I have bad coordination skills so I really should’ve noticed or checked.

Nothing to stop you selling it on and buying a different one OP!
