When you send off your finished tapestry to be made into a cushion do they judge your chaotic and disgraceful back?

The front looks great but the back looks like I have been very angry and distracted for a prolonged period of time.

Have visions of the cushion people holding it up and tutting.

no, of course they don't.

And as a fellow stitcher, I reassure that I have seen a LOT worse.

I'm sure they've seen it all before! Where are you sending it off to, if you don't mind me asking?

It looks fine.
That is not a mess.

Will need a photo of completed cushion when it's done. Thank you !

Thats great for a back.

The only thing they will worry about is if it needed to be stretched that the end thread is not too short and could pop out

A friend of mine who has looked at a lot of historic needlework says that the obsession with having a neat back is only a thing from the 19th century onwards. Maybe you are working in an earlier tradition.

This is it so far. Got the final section to go.

Thank you for saying the back’s not too bad. I’m sure I read somewhere that if you’re doing it properly the back should look as good as the front.

I don’t think they care and I’ve rarely seen a neat back. Here’s the back of my current cross stitch. I quite like the messiness.
