Bratty and spoilt nieces and nephews?

Oh my god give me strength. I do love them and I know they are children but jeez. One child took it's greasy fingers and pawed my tablet all over and wanted to see if my laptop was touch screen by pawing that too.

Well the ones on DH’s side were similar to yours, but the ones I share genes with have all been angels 😉😉

I have one that is bratty, the others are lovely. He usually stops if I get cross but he likes to push buttons.

Word of advice, tell them off yourself. You might need to gauge the parents reactions first. My ds1 was a little shit when around family and they would all sit there smiling indulgently at him while he acted up, then side eyeing each other at his behaviour. They would silently watch and listen while I would tell him off again and again. Just a little 'hey, you were told to stop!' would have stopped him but no they didn't like to interfere. Much easier to laugh at him an then bitch at my parenting afterwards. They didn't seem to get or care that he was acting out because they were laughing at him, obviously it's ultimately my responsibility but a bit of help isn't a lot of ask, certainly encouraging bad behaviour then bitching about it isn't fair.

If parents don't step up then it's even more important for you to set boundaries because a child doesn't know how to behave unless they are told. Whether that's a sharp 'no' to a toddler or an explanation to an older child, they need to know that touching your laptop is never ever acceptable behaviour.
