It's lovely. Definitely worth a couple of days. DD just lived there for a year and always found plenty to do. It's quirky and has a fantastic tram system that makes getting about a breeze.

The centre is surounded by canals which have boat trips. Nice square by the catherdral. You can also walk to the European Parlament building. Petit France is nice to walk around. Lots of canals and bars/restaurants. Plenty of places to eat in general. There are also two shopping centres as well as shops in the centre.

DH & I spent 3 days there a couple of years ago. It’s very pretty, but not huge. Enough for a night or 2. We ended up doing a tour of the European Parliament, which was actually quite interesting. There was also a lovely botanical garden nearby. Food wise, galettes are their specialty & were cheap and very nice.

The cathedral is on a nice square. Lots of cafes with outdoor seating. The boats up the river are actually ok and you'll see loads of history as well as the European Parliament and court of human rights.

Great food in that part of France. I think I need to revisit!

Yes they speak French. It is pretty and Germanic in look as it used to be in Germany.

It's not dangerous. At least no more so than any other city in Europe.

It was something to do with bikes and cyclists ! Several people said it felt dangerous

Following, Strasbourg is on my list of cities to visit.

I've not been for years but the middle bit Petite France is very pretty with lots of geraniums. Old buildings and canals. For me it had a similar feel to Bruges.

If you walk on cycle paths it' 'dangerous' in that they will ring their bells or shout!
