Please recommend me a Heat Pump Tumble Dryer (that isn't Hisense!)

First world problem I know 😅 We got rid of our condenser tumble dryer two years ago and bought a Hisense heat pump dryer instead. (Were attracted by the idea of less shrinking of clothes, cheaper to run, and no external hose which means no monstrous spiders waltzing their way into the house).

Our dryer has developed a fault but I've asked for a refund rather than replacement as even before it broke we were really disappointed with its performance - timer didn't tally at all with how long the cycle actually took, clothes shrink way worse in it than they ever did in our old traditional dryer and anything with even the slightest toggle on it would get caught and shredded at the back of the drum. Hisense customer services were absolutely shocking in our four month battle to resolve this, so we don't want to consider another HiSense dryer.

Therefore please can anyone recommend a Heat Pump dryer, ideally one that:

  • Has a standard cycle that's less than 3.5 hours
  • Does not noticeably shrink clothes
  • You can safely put something with a toggle in and feel confident it won't get immediately wrapped around the drum motor 😅

Thank you.

I have a new Blomberg built in. it’s AA+ with virtually all cycles below 3 hours. the weather has been good since I had it installed, so I have only used it to ‘finish’ or ‘decrinkle’ clothes which have mostly dried outside. So far it’s been brilliant, - definitely notice that it’s gentler on clothes and they emerge feeling super soft compared to a standard tumble dryer. However I await the pleasure of drying towels, jeans etc from soaking

We have a Samsung heat pump dryer. It does what we need it to do! Lots of settings but I just use the standard. My only issue with it is cleaning the filter, it's really fiddly to get to

Oh and yes to less than 3 hours, no shrinkage we have noticed and I've chucked in toggles and other strange things and no damage! We've had it 6 years now and still as good as the day we bought it

I have a Bosch, really easy to clean the filters. I went for the slightly cheaper one where you clean the filters yourself.
No problems, bought in winter when I used it a lot

My Bosch has been great, it uses a sensor so most of the time clothes are dry in an hour to 90 minutes although the programme I use runs for 2hr20. I’ve noticed I get holes in soft cotton tops, but it’s a bit of a trade off I guess. If I cared I could air dry them. But it’s great on bulkier items. Never had a toggle catch. But it helps my washing machine has a good spin cycle so stuff doesn’t go in heavily damp rather than wet.

We have a Bosch heat pump condenser that cleans its own filter and is plumbed in. Dries well and quickly and is cheap to run, it’s the best drier we’ve had by a mile

My LG one is great. Never buy Haier.

Very happy with our Beko heat pump dryer. It scored highly in which? best buys and was only about £350 I think.

frecklejuice · 11/07/2025 09:11

We have a Samsung and it’s brilliant, really fast drying (I also use dryer balls as well).

Bluevelvetsofa · 11/07/2025 09:46

We have a Beko. The drying time is long though, so maybe not for you OP. I don’t mind that as it’s in the garage, so not in the way. We also have a Neff washer/dryer which came with the house and the dryer is more expensive to run.

I have an AEG heat pump dryer and its amazing. Comes with a 5 year guarantee as well.

FieldsOfPotatoes · 11/07/2025 10:13

We chose a Samsung so it sings the little song to us. That aside it works wonderfully!

mummabubs · 11/07/2025 13:43

Thanks so much everyone, definitely given us some to look into. (Not that anyone needs a dryer right now with heatwave number 3 eh!)

Thanks again all, a Samsung dryer came up on a great deal today so fingers crossed we have the same positive experience as those on this thread! 🤞🏻
