Does anyone know of a place where kids can play with push along small vehicles (hot wheels type metal ones or little wooden ones?)

My little boy loves playing with toy vehicles, but all the places I can find (farm parks or even vehicle museums) only mention that they have the sit-on type toy vehicles for kids to drive (Cosy Coupe or mini John Deere tractors etc).

Does anyone know of a place where kids can play with push along vehicles please? My 3 year old would happily spend all day just pushing cars/trucks/diggers/tractors around! Either on tracks, in a sand pit, on toy garages etc - he’s not bothered where as long as he’s pushing new (to him) vehicles around.

We are in North Wales but would happily make a short holiday of it to go somewhere that would make him happy - we were on holiday in Devon and incidentally found a place that had a whole train carriage full of small wooden vehicles for kids to play with (Devon Railway Centre). We went there to ride the steam trains, but all he was bothered about were the toy vehicles - he still goes on about it a year later 🤣.

Thanks for any help.

Have you heard of train master? They have various locations around. Not sure if that’s the sort of thing you mean?!

I don’t I’m afraid, I’m also thinking a load of hot wheels etc scattered al over would be a H&S issue.

these guys do sessions like you are talking about - haven’t been but taking my son in a couple of weeks! Not local ti north wales though but they might open more franchises or if you happen to travel close to one!

Thank you so much everyone ❤️ Checking out the places mentioned by @Pinkelephant66 @Forgottenmyphone @sobermum23
now. My son’s not fussy- if it’s a toy with wheels that he hasn’t got at home and he can push it, then he’s happy 🤣

This is so adorable! I hope he has an amazing time and you both have fun.

We take a bag of matchbox cars and a speed track on holidays and days out with us. Google speed track.

See if you can find a like minded 3 year old with a big collection and then head to your local sandpit / forest etc with your child’s collection and the friends collection and swap them to play. We’ve spent hours doing this, to the point where my DC asks me to ask his friends mum what cars he wants his friend to bring for play dates 🤣

LucasBuck · 12/07/2025 13:53

These are all great ideas, thank you! My son will really appreciate it ❤️

Oh we have a child like this! He's 5 now and starting to love animals a bit more than cars, after 5 years of showing zero interest in anything unless it had wheels.

If you're ever in Buckinghamshire/Bedfordshire, Bucks Rail Museum has push along trains on a big train track and Snakes and Ladders Dunstable has push along toys at the soft play in the section for younger kids.
And for when they're a bit bigger, Silverstone museum has a giant Scalextrix (sp) racing track which you can play on.

Playdates with like-minded kids or taking 2-4 of your own vehicles to new locations is also super fun. DS loved taking things with wheels to various parks and pushing them down the slides.

Are you near the beach at all? One of DS's favourite things to do when we lived near the sea was to get a dump truck and fill it with seashells then "brum" it all the way to the sea and give the shells back to the sea. You could also do it with pebbles. He used to spend hours doing this.

Thanks very much ❤️ We are happy to travel for short breaks so I’m making lists of all these places!

He regularly takes cars/trucks to the park to send them down slides and to the beach (though I hadn’t thought of the pebble/shell game - great idea). He’s only just turned 3 so is starting nursery in Sept - hopefully play dates will happen more then.

And it’s good to know your DS eventually started showing an interest in things without wheels- I love animals so it’s been strange having a kid who is not at all bothered for the zoo/farm parks etc. Goes to show that it’s definitely more nature than nurture in terms of interests 🤣

Literally thinking the same thing. If I was rich, I’d make a skatepark, but for hot wheels cars!

BoobsOnTheMoon · 27/08/2025 13:35

We had some robust plastic diggers/dumpers that lived in the "beach bag" and only came out when we were at the beach. Endless hours of fun.

By age 5 the DC in question was also into castles, and we bought a wooden trebuchet that came to the beach so we could build a sandcastle then fire rocks at it til it fell down. Again and again and again and again and again....
