Any dentists around? Maryland bridge....

Hi. I have had a maryland bridge for years, cant remember when I got it. Its upper 5th and is attached either side, one side that attaches to the back tooth has a filling like attachment, the other one nearer the front has a wing type thing.
Part of the wing cement has worn away so dentist has said he is going to file it off and remove that bit and build up the tooth underneath so it'll be attached to the back tooth only. I feel like I can get my nail slightly under the back tooth filling and lift it. (It's such a tiny tiny bit if even that) and I am scared what he will suggest.

I am also getting aching in my jaw by my ear and keep thinking it's the bridge but I keep clicking my jaw and think it could be related to that.

Does anyone have any advice please?

I don’t know what advice you are asking for? The ache in your jaw is most likely connected with the clicking, sounds like you have a bit of TMJD.
With regards to the bridge… different dentists will have different thought processes and different methods. Having an attachment on either side of the missing tooth makes the bridge slightly more secure but over time, as in your case, the bonding may fail on one side leaving a small gap which can’t be left as you can’t clean behind it so eventually will cause decay. Personally I prefer to attach resin retained bridges to just one tooth for that very reason, so if it fails you know about it, but as I said every dentist is different and just cos another dentist will do it differently to me doesn’t make either of us wrong. Worse case scenario is that you will need a new bridge

Sorry I wasnt really clear. I wanted to cancel my appointment because I was scared! I went though, he took off the wing on the back tooth and filled it so now its only attached to my 4th from front tooth (I hope it holds!) It was actually the back wing and not the front wing which I thought he was removing.
The false tooth feels a bit weird tonight.
There was so much pushing and pressure after he had redrilled the cavity and then some weird file thing at the end!
