Apple wallet on someone’s phone and I want to remove it now? How do I do it? I can’t seem to be able to

Is your bank card linked to their apple wallet?

Or is your apple wallet just signed in on their phone?

Because the way to remove it will be different depending on the answer.

Little dots in top right hand corner … click on that and card details.

Menopants · 09/07/2025 06:22

if you don’t have access to the phone cancel the card

Fastertimer · 09/07/2025 07:23

It’s my card on someone’s else’s phone

You'll have to cancel the card.

Newdoggo · 09/07/2025 07:39

Just ring the bank, don't need to cancel the card, just ask them to remove the card from a specific device

I don't think they'd be able to do this, would they?

How can the bank do that? I'm asking because I wouldn't have thought the bank could that remotely, but I'm happy to be corrected.

clearglassclearmind · 09/07/2025 07:45

Banks can delink them. New cards issued can also automatically be updated on apple wallet - I've had mine replaced and it's been done for me in apple wallet

Fastertimer · 09/07/2025 07:45

Thank you. I’ll call the bank

They can see all devices a card is registered to and websites with card on file - they can remove from all or specified devices/sites - if you get a card renewed or replaced it will update the new details automatically on all unless there has been fraud on the card

Spotthering · 09/07/2025 07:47

Can you use their phone to remove it, or is it that you can’t access their phone?

No, the bank can't do that. Or at least that is what my bank said. I was told I need would have to manually remove the card from the device.

Yes they can - I worked for a bank and did it almost daily

Most of the time it's due to phone being lost or stolen so the person doesn't have the device, but if you have the device it's easy enough to remove a card from a wallet yourself🤗

Wheelz46 · 09/07/2025 08:19

I work for a bank and we can 100% remove a card from a specific device.

Cyanometer · 09/07/2025 08:48

How do you identify the device though? How would they know which is yours, and which is someone else's?

Our system shows the device name and when it was added so as long as the customer knows their own device name and when it was added we would just revoke the other one.

If both devices have the same name and same date added, we would just recommend revoking both devices and customer to add it back to theirs.

A lot of people - mainly big companies - struggle with the difference between "can't" and "won't".

My SOP is to assume it's the latter.

There's also the linguistic confusion between first person singular and plural.

"I'm sorry, we can't do that."

No, you really meant to say was "I'm sorry I won't do that".

In another universe I would make people sit English exams to prove they can handle pronouns.

Cancel the card and get a new one.

This
Tell your card provider what has happened.

Wheelz46 · 09/07/2025 10:04

Don't just cancel the card and assume the other device no longer has access to the details.

If you report the card lost and a new card is issued, when it's in a digital wallet, the new card number can and will usually appear in the wallet. The access needs revoking.
