What did you do for your baby’s 1st birthday party

My baby is turning 1 soon and we want to do a little party for him but realistically we only have 2 babies to invite - the other babies we know are from antenatal classes so will likely be having their parties on the same weekend.

So I just wanted to get some ideas on what others have done for their little one’s 1st birthday ? I think we would have about 30 people in total but obviously it will mainly be adults going. I was thinking of hiring a village hall but worried it will be boring for the adults and the babies !

For DS back in Jan 09 we just had some friends and family round, did some buffet food, had a cake, he played. Very low key, was about 12 of us max.
for dd in 2013, had the same friends and family over, had a bbq, cake, watched footy etc. enough to celebrate without going over the top

Had about 25 over to ours - family and no other babies. We did an informal get together with a few of the other babies turning one a couple of weeks later at a local baby softplay.

Next DC we just went with family and brother’s family to a park and onto a pizza express. Again, just did a meet up with a couple of other mums and babies to informally jointly celebrate first birthdays at a farm.

Last DC turned one in the second lockdown, so couldn’t do anything, but obviously made a big fuss of her.

So…all quite different, all DC seemed to enjoy at the time…and of course none of them remember anyway.

I think birthdays for a one year old are more for the adults. We just a little tea party with grandparents. It was a nice day and we sat in the garden. DS had one of those red
and yellow kiddie cars and a push along trolley, we have pics of him trying to walk with it on the lawn.

I didn’t have mine baptised so I held the equivalent of a post baptism party. Social club, bouncy castle, buffet
