Has anyone not had their blue badge renewed this year?

I've had one for 16 years, not sure how I'm going to mange with out it! Do they think my mobility has suddenly got better FFS?

Anyone else? Have they changed the criteria? They didn't even offer an assessment ( which I've had in the past and they agreed I needed one)

God,I'm so upset. It says I can appeal within 28 days which I will do.

Neither of my parents get benefits and have Blue Badges so it's not just awarded if you have benefits.

I know - I wasn't on any benefits when I was initially awarded it. I was simply asking if you were because there's a section about it on the renewal which can automatically deem you legible.

I hope you succeed.

If you've had it a while, the criteria have been tightened up since you last applied. The process now is quite rigorous. Although you will obviously qualify on reapplication, those that weren't necessarily entitled originally, but got one anyway, will not get one this time around. IYSWIM.

Anything that prevents the abuse of the BB scheme has to be a good thing. (We have one so not being goady or anything).

An xray is not sufficient because it doesn’t mean you need mobility assistance - it’s how far you can walk or whether you need accompanying that counts, there’s other criteria too (eg we need to open the door fully to manoeuvre dsd in and do up seat belt). A bionic ankle can be better than the natural deteriorated variety!

I went into great detail about how I needed extra room to swing round in the car seat.

I will try and get a GP letter.

You’re going to need some kind of proof from either a gp, occupational health, physio or benefits letter that you do actually struggle with your mobility.

As others have said not everyone with bionic features will struggle with mobility and unfortunately they can’t take just your word due to the lying chancers.

Yes, I'll contact my GP and ask for a letter.

It is annoying that for the last 16 years it's been sufficient.

I’d be surprised if that’s the case.

Its more likely that it was just about adequate 16 years ago and hasn’t been checked properly since.

Of course it's been checked,it's checked as a new application every 3 years and during that time I've been sent for an assessment.
