Talk me down, travelling to France

I'm driving to France soon for the first time. I have a lot of dietary requirements so have packed a lot of food. No fresh dairy/meat or anything (I assume things that contain dairy like chocolate are fine?)

However on the RAC website it mentions a few more things I haven't previously seen. We are taking packed lunch because it'll be near impossible to find something I can eat en route. This includes a little fruit salad and some cut up veggies. How likely is it customs search our lunch bag? Or unpack my (3!) crates of food. Everything packed (with the exception of some nuts & dried fruit which has been pre-portioned) is sealed/pre-preprepared. It's a nightmare travelling with restrictions, hence why we are driving!

Any talking me down would be much appreciated 🙈

Just found your post as looking at same question for allergic child’s packed lunch
we went last year and took one (weren’t searched) but panicking again this year. All the people who made snide comments above clearly have no idea what it’s like travelling with multiple allergies. Where we stopped last year there was nothing my child could have eaten safely. Not to mention would rather not take the risk mid long journey for a treasured holiday nor the time spent faffing around checking. As to the person above saying they are surprised there were no fruit pots - we can’t buy pre cut fruit for my child (just one example) as they are allergic to certain fruits and could be cross contamination (not to mention general contamination risks). We barely eat out as it is in the UK.

I don’t understand the need to comment rudely and not even answer OP’s question. Just pass by.

glad you had a good trip OP!

Hi!

I know, some people are so non-understanding! We are actually off again in a few weeks. We have just driven through Italy (we flew, initially) and the service statons were so good, makes France seem even worse!
