Love it or loathe it, Live Aid is 40 years old next weekend.

How old were you at the time?
Do we have any MNs who was at Wembley on the day, or even the JFK stadium in Philadelphia?!
What was your favourite act?

I have a hazy memory of it as DB was older and into music. I remember him watching and being told not to disturb him. The doors were open into the garden which didn't happen often, only in particularly good weather.

I was 21 and had just had my first child - watching it tonight has brought back so many happy memories

I love looking at the pan overs of the crowd - the Princess Di hairdos! The men’s mullets and perms (mind you, that’s all back “in” now 😆) The 80s fashion!
I love it all!

I was there, I was 18. Such an amazing day.

Very bitter sweet seeing Ozzie then , now he’s done his farewell tour - seated

Now that’s something I don’t remeber , Elton introducing George Michael and Andrew Ridgly. We all knew Andrew didn’t sing by then , had George not gone solo ? And where is Andrew on the stage ??

just seen him with the backing singers

I was 17. It’s hard to believe it was 40 years
ago!

I lived in Wembley at the time. Didn’t see anything, but heard it all! LIVE

I was 10 and don't really remember it, it's not the sort of thing my parents would have watched and they didn't have the TV on in the daytime. Watching it now I'm currently listening to Patti Labelle murdering songs, I'm assuming she was big at the time but I don't know who she is. Most of the music has been underwhelming to be honest.

I was newly pregnant with DS, about14 weeks, in photos around that time I look so thin and pale.

DS turns 40 in January!

One of my friends had her baby on that Live Aid day… it was hot and sunny where we lived, and she was overdue, so glad to be getting her baby into the world, she missed most of L.A.
There was plenty of repeats though…

Similar! My DD turns 40 in February 😊

Ah jeez Live Aid, I watched it (practically from start to finish) with my sister at home in Cork in Ireland. It was the most wonderful, heart warming & optimistic day.

My sister has sadly left us since, but I still cherish that day with her tbh. I went out for a run at one stage that evening after watching for 6-7 hours to get some exercise, I was like running on cloud 9, totally buzzed up after watching world class performances from the likes of Queen, U2, Phil Collins, Dire Straits & others. I arrived back from my run to see my sister on cloud 9, watching Paul MacCartney singing "Let it Be" with all of Wembley joining in.

It was simply a wonderful day & so many great things came out of it also.

(E.g. some years subsequently the US donated USD 15 billion to help vaccinate & protect poor africans from HIV /Aids because of Bob Geldof & Bono lobbying George Bush , thru Tony Blair. Great days indeed!! )
