Just had my first driving lesson and I loved it!

Mid thirties, I've put it off for so long, but life forced me to need a license!

I never realised how much I'd love it. I'd driven once in an automatic abroad with a friend teaching me, with big wide roads and I thought our smaller roads would make it uncomfortable, but I can't believe how addictive it feels!

Anyway, just wanted to share my good feelings with someone!

Ah this is lovely 😀 Thanks for reminding me how fabulous it feels to drive what is actually a complicated machine.

That joy of 'finding the bite' and coasting along.
The pride when you manage it on a hill at traffic lights 🤗
I pass the same dreaded hill (over a canal and always with a line of traffic building behind bumper to bumper) and still feel happiness in my achievement of over a quarter of a century ago 😁
ETA: I still prefer a manual, so rollback is most definitely a risk if anything goes wrong.

Learning to drive when you are an "older" female means that you are more conscious of road dangers, which also means being a more cautious driver compared to teenagers. As another poster said, motorways are easy compared with navigating slower traffic conditions. The problem is motorways are usually high speed, and driving a car locally, specially if you know the roads, feels easier.

It takes a while to be comfortable with traffic road rules even if you passed the test on your first try. Don't ever push yourself driving to places you are not comfortable with. Driving locally for a few months to be at ease with traffic conditions is essential to enjoy driving, before you take the car on a motorway or an unfamiliar destination.

Keep going OP. Driving, having your own car without being dependent on anyone or public transport when it's often unreliable, it's freedom.

@WelikebeingcosyThanks, I need to bite the bullet!

To be honest though, I have crashed my bike into stuff when distracted so that’s not a good sign!! BlushBlush

I've fallen off my bike too!
