Having a day out in Liverpool soon and looking for nice places for coffee and lunch. Also, any shops an older teen would like.

Leaf on Bold Street is great for coffee and lunch. Also a good place to browse some quirkier shops. If you’re after the best quality coffee then Bold Street Coffee at the top of the same road is probably the best

In this weather I’d much prefer to sit outside at

The Quarter

on the corner of Hope St and Faulkner St than anywhere on Bold St.

Can’t think of any obvious shops, apart from Harvey Nichols Beauty store. Liverpool to me is all about the Cathedrals, the Everyman theatre, the Walker Art Gallery, the Tate gallery, Sefton Park Palm House, Crosby Beach and the unmissable

Another Place sculptures there.

Antony Gormley: Another Place

Antony Gormley’s installation comprises 100 cast-iron sculptures made from 17 different moulds taken from the sculptor’s own body, installed on Crosby Beach on the Mersey Estuary. The 'iron men' all face the open sea, and evoke the relationship between...

Moose coffee is the one everyone talks about, but I agree about The Quarter.

For lunch, try Salt Bacaro on Castle St (Italian small plates).

But The Quarter also does good food.

The bluecoat gardens is a nice little spot right in the centre and the cafe has nice food

And urban outfitters is quite good for teens and nearby

The Garden

Step into our much loved garden and discover a tranquil oasis in the heart of Liverpool's bustling city centre.

@Cynic17 have to admit I love the environs of Hope St more than almost anywhere on Earth! Waking up in a room at Hope St Hotel looking over Hope Place, with a corner view of the Cathedral, plans for Crosby Beach and a ticket for something at The Everyman, or the Tung Auditorium is my idea of a completely perfect day.

Moose Coffee. Amazing food and great coffee.

Few decent shops and eateries on the Albert Dock - although that isn't as thriving as it once was - close to the museums, Beatles Story and .The Wheel. We have all the usual shops including a few beauty places and a couple of quirkier shops. Liverpool One is the best place for mainstream shopping but Bold Street definitely for more independent shops and restaurants.

@PersephoneParlormaid

Have you tried Mowgli before?

Cornal · 04/07/2025 08:57

Yes agree re The Quarter if exploring the cathedrals

PersephoneParlormaid · 04/07/2025 12:11

It’s a shopping visit, not a sightseeing visit.

No, but DD won’t eat spicy food, so I’ll have to give it a miss this visit.

maybe not for your teen but both branches of Maray are amazingly good. Bold street is generally a good shout.

Also Duke Street market so you can have one thing while she has another.

Comefromaway · 04/07/2025 12:23

My daughter can spend hours window shopping in Flannels. They aso have a really nice cafe for lunch. Harvey Nicholls is beauty only. There are a lot of independent type shops around Bold Street. Sostrene Grene is another dd likes.

She recommends Bold Street Coffee.

Baconsarnie · 04/07/2025 12:31

Utility is a great shop for quirky presents and some Liverpool-themed gifts. It’s opp John Lewis and on Bold St

MammaTo · 04/07/2025 13:05

Rococo on Lord Street

MysteryNameChange · 04/07/2025 13:07

Visit Redbrick Market for shopping and Baltic Marker for food

ScouseQueen · 04/07/2025 13:15

92 Degrees is excellent if you're a coffee lover. Just off Hope St. Bold St Coffee is good too.
Quarter is ok but a bit over rated. Just see what takes your fancy down Bold St. If you're going to Liverpool One, which I would expect for a shopping trip, Lunya is nearby and does excellent tapas so your daughter can pick non spicy things.

Toddlerteaplease · 04/07/2025 13:46

Moose. Several branches around the city centre..

Daisypopp88 · 04/07/2025 13:52

Bamboo on bold street is lovely and would probably be appealing to your daughter

Nifty50something · 04/07/2025 13:56

I like Carlisi on Dale street.

RunsLikeaLittleFatDuck · 04/07/2025 15:28

Head to Williamson Square on the corner of Tarleton Street and Richmond Street is a huge Italian cafe/restaurant. Used to be called Donato's. It's always busy and just off from the main shopping area.
Further down Tarleton St. toward Church St. the Wake & Cate is a favourite it's Greek owned and their coffees are fabulous.
