Is anyone else just really twitchy? (muscles)

I am really prone to muscle twitches. I've been fully checked out and nothing wrong health wise.

I've had twitchy calf muscles since I was a teenager- I'm nearly 50 now. But I also often get twitchy eye that lasts for weeks, other random muscles twitch eg if I drive for a long time I get twitches in my hands from holding the wheel. I also get loads of ectopic heartbeats which my cardiologist says is just a bit like my heart being twitchy.

Lying here now feeling relaxed but have a twitch in my stomach and one in my ear canal which is really weird!!

I do suffer from stress/anxiety so I think my body is always on high alert.

Just wondering if anyone else gets the same? I'm not worried about it from a health point of view (seen neurologist, had all the tests and scans) I just feel like maybe im the only weirdo who gets this?!

I get a twitchy eyelid if I am stressed! It's very annoying.

It's a sign of lack of magnesium. Get a tub Epsom salts( Amazon), dilute two large mugs' worth in the bath, sit in the bath for 20 minutes minimum...Also use magnesium spray from Holland and Barrett. Magnesium is not a chemical that is often discussed.

I was coming to say take magnesium too. Twitchy eye when tired is one thing, but general twitching needs magnesium.

Also, keep on doing it. When you use the spray ( I spray it on my knees before bed, because I suffer from 'restless leg), your skin might feel as if it's burning'. It's just the skin absorbing the mag. I've been doing it for 20 years.

I've been taking .magnesium for years. I used to use the skin spray but now find oral magnesium glycinate better. I notice when I don't take it but am still very twitchy even taking it!

Also gets worse after exercise. Sometimes electrolyte tablets helps a bit but nothing makes it go away. I always have something twitching!

They have now realised that low iron can be part of restless leg syndrome, and it also causes palpitations as well Do you know your ferritin level?

I have fibromyalgia and I hate the muscles twitching especially the electric shock ones but they seem to improve slightly if I take iron tablets so I assume I have low iron too.

Pinkrabitt · 03/07/2025 22:23

My ferritin is 72 in a range of 13 - 150 so seems OK?
