DIY Seychelles

So we have decided that the USA road trip we planned for next year is a bit steep cost wise as has other European weekend breaks in with family and Jamaica in Feb for wedding so have been considering other options. Basically, I really don’t want to the USA on a budget want it to be all out balls out.
We DIY’d a Vietnam trip last year and was fabulous.
While checking out YouTube and other sites online have stumbled across the Seychelles. Having been to the Maldives I thought it was a similar ilk - a flop n drop/honeymoon destination with beautiful barefoot resorts and amazing snorkelling but little else.
Just had a look at the Seychelles and was blown away at the beaches, rock formations, wild life, green scenery, hiking trails etc.
Just had a quick recky - for a 10 day trip island hopping between Mahe (5 nights) , Preslin )3 nights) and LaDigue (2 nights) for DH and I -
Flights around 2000 economy class obvs (got tonnes of avois points so can upgrade seats to economy plus- or business class if we want to burn the lot I suppose)
Accommodation all in , mid range self catering /b n b hotels 1000. May splurge on last few days in a luxury resort but see nearer the time .
Ferries between the islands 250 all in
Car hire 400 all in ( in La Digue)
it’s all bikes not cars I believe)
So with flights, accommodation, ferry transfers and car hire that’s coming out at £3650
Even With a healthy daily budget on for food and drink /national park passes/ snorkelling boat trips etc , can’t quite get my head around it being quite so accessible!!
Any tips from anyone who has done similar ?

We went mid May, took a boat trip to Praslin and La Digue from Mahe. We stayed in a resort hotel on the west coast of Mahe (for the sunsets) so cannot advise on self catering accommodation. We spent a lot of time on Beau Vallon Beach, where La Plage restaurant on the beach served an outstanding lamb curry. IMO the Seychelles was just as good as the glossy promos suggest. We did not stay there but The Savoy Resort is well situated for the beach and local nightlife. You will have a great time!!!

Both islands were lovely, Praslin was my favourite though as it is bigger and there is more to do , we had lunch at great place with a huge mango tree in the beer garden. The beach was all white sand and blue water.
The food we had was all good, basically Afro-Indian, other types were also available.
the whole place is very ‘first world’ and well run. You will find yourself mixing with the locals more than the Maldives, they all seem to speak either English or French.
The whole place had a “Death in Paradise” vibe about it, but without the drama and the dead bodies 😁

I love that description!!
love the Maldives but it’s deffo not an experience that lends itself to mixing with locals in any way shape or form x
