DH has just received his blue badge. He has Fibromyalgia. I wanted to know what an access card also enables us to do? Tia

You get them free from some venues but only for use with the venue or you can pay £15 for three years.

Te card details the access requirements/ reasonable adjustments the card holder requires. Eg +1/2 for carers, flat access, wheelchair access, can't queue, quick toilet access.

I know axs, atg, merlin and ticketmaster all use them.

Just to add some venues don't accept a blue badge as proof of requiring a carer or quick access/ queue jump. It's supposed to save carrying paperwork around.

We have found it helpful on the phone as some venues can use your card number to verify need.

Oh that's great info. Thank you. I think my husband is thinking ahead to places he will find it hard to que with the kids etc. So £15 for 3 years and save the agro seems reasonable

We have it for my son and find it quite useful to have the three years that you can use anywhere rather than keep registering with each place.

Merlin have a whole process for their theme parks that's a bit of a pia if he's thinking of those. It's worth having a look at the requirements of where you're going as everywhere is different.

The cea card for the cinema is worth while too if he goes there a lot. I think from memory that is £6 for a year but it gives a free carer ticket.

It’s not as simple as that. The access card provider, Nimbus, will want a stack of evidence and they decide what your DHs access needs are. So they might not give a plus one symbol, or a questing symbol of they don’t deem it necessary. I have an access card and find it very useful though so definitely worth trying for one.

I found it really easy to get for my son. He is servely disabled though with lots of paperwork etc. I just sent his dla (high rate for both) and his social care summary. He requires 2:1 support.
