How do I get back like this !

I’ve had two sections since so I have the shelf which isn’t helping but looking at these makes me so depressed… I had one child in the second pic, no section.

First pic was 2018/2019 peak unhealthy, drinking every night, take aways very very often, that paired with pcos causes the huge belly you see !

Second pic is around mid 2020, I had been taking metformin around 4 months and stopped drinking, you can see it did me wonders. I weighed about 9.5stone.

Right now I’m 10.12stone, am taking mounjaro but struggling to get back to my pre section weight.

Does anyone have any words of wisdom ? I am busy as a busy mum of toddlers, walk everywhere, try and eat my best, the stomach just doesn’t want to budge though.

How do I get back like this !

Have you tried Pilates?

Wheech · 03/07/2025 07:17

I don't think your pics are approved yet but I'm familiar with the shelf. I was happy with my weight but hated the post section stomach. The only thing that fixed it for me was coolsculpting. Expensive but a one time fix and I was delighted with the result.

Yes I have but I haven’t been vigilant enough with it, it’s so hard to fit any proper exercise in with the little ones. My core is just shot, will Pilates help that ?

from reading though it seems even with exercise the shelf remains for most ?

I still have a bit of a ‘shelf’ 20 years after my third C-section. I do yoga, Pilates, weights, HIT and lots of walking and have a low body weight. It’s not as noticeable but it’s there.
I’ve learned to embrace it!

Same here, I had 1 natural birth then 2 EMCS. The C-section pouch is ALWAYS there so I've sort of given up now, I do hate it though.

Yes Pilates will def help. It doesn’t have to take long either. Just a couple of exercises that you can incorporate into your day rather than a big work out. You could do a couple on your bed before you get up which is what I did and then a couple while brushing teeth. A couple at bedtime. Honestly, it’s doable and you really will feel the difference I promise. Give it a go - hugs, you’ve got this x

Hello op, have you checked for diastasis recti? Just worth checking before getting into exercise as you'll need more tailored exercises if you do have a gap.

I feel you on how hard it is with little people. I tried to do a hiit workout and yoga yesterday, ended up with my toddler riding me like a horse 🙈

jacksmannequin · 03/07/2025 09:19

I need to have a look into Pilates again.
Dd1 gets really territorial over my yoga mat and goes mental when I get it out 😆
i probably do have a huge gap there! I had 2 sections in 16 months so I know that hasn’t helped me
