Since when do Always pads smell so awful?

I haven’t used always in years, I mainly use organic tampons and pads. I’m travelling for work and got caught out. There’s only a small corner shop where I’m staying so had to buy the green pads. Oh my goodness the stench is so strong. The packet was only in my canvas shopping bag for a few minutes but I can still smell it in the bag even after a day. Don’t get me started on the actual pad itself. I’m sure it wasn’t ever this bad? Awful

I used them for years but now I seem to have an allergy to them. They make me itchy. I also prefer period pants.

Awful, struggled to find unscented liners...and don't get me started on scented fucking toilet roll!

Horrible- I use Kotex thin pads with wings unscented and really comfortable after a recommendation on here. I almost don't need them anymore as just through peri and soon will have gone a year period free.

Oh God the scented bog roll is even worse- my mum bought some coconut scented by mistake and was most alarmed at the effects.

I agree it’s awful, the smell alongside the plasticy feeling chemically treated pad, took my skin clean off. It was like that awful nappy rash babies can sometimes get when their skin is raw. I switched to bodyform and have never looked back. My username is testament to how much I love them after my always ordeal 😂

I like that the bodyform ones feel soft, almost like cotton (to me anyway), but now my twin girls have started their periods, it’s getting pricey. Does anyone know if the aldi or Lidl ones compare in terms of softness and length?

I treat my vulva to fancy organic unscented stuff. I'd rather stuff loo roll into my knickers than put an Always paf anywhere near me.

This is why I stopped using them.
I can also smell them when others use them. Would not want to advertise it personally. (Though of course I don't say anything.)

No idea but they literally made my skin fall off. Bodyform pink are the best ones going forward. If they do something to those then I have a big problem.

They’re vile and I can’t believe women choose them.
I find myself standing in the aisle sniffling packets to establish which are unscented

I do too. 🤣

However it is helpful when you're in an unknown shop trying to find an emergency packet of pads... you can tell at the end of the aisle by the smell.

The artificial scents started to be added to them en masse about 10-12 years ago.

Pantyliners have had the option of scented since I was a teenager (mid 00s) at least but it wasn't a standard thing, it was just a few brands which offered it. I quite liked it then but I can't stand it now, they are SO strong and it's such a distinctive scent as well.

TMI but I do remember the smell of a used pad was awful back in my teens but I don't think that the ones with added scents improve on this. I remember being surprised when I started to use a mooncup which was about 2010, that menstrual blood in itself doesn't smell, it's the combination of the blood plus whatever the chemicals are in the pads. Washable pads don't smell either, as long as you wash them promptly.

Scented toilet roll doesn't seem to upset my fanny but it does give me a headache and when I was pregnant and accidentally bought a load of the "winter" scented stuff it set off my nausea so badly I crammed it into the bottom of a cupboard and forbade anyone from using it. And that was the year of covid lockdowns and toilet paper shortages!

Since about 1994.

I felt like I was burning after I needed an emergency pack of pads last week. Never again will I buy Always.

I usually like Aldi’s.

I got home last night so was finally able to use my regular ones. I’ve woken up this morning to a burning feeling and what feels like the beginning of a uti.
