Feels like I'm giving all my money to Amazon

I am shopping on Amazon so much I feel like I should just give them a set chunk of my salary every month. I know they're not a great company but it's a really hard habit to break - feel a bit like they've got me over a barrel where I'm prioritising convenience. Recent purchases have included a bikini, kids water bottles, paint testers, phone case, bedroom curtains, and a bike tyre. I would have had to go to several sets of shops and taken hours to get these things another way. Which is of course why they are so successful. On top of this is the prime subscription and music subs every month. I feel somehow uneasy! Is everyone like this, these days? If so, it's pretty nuts?!

@Summerhillsquare
Have you seen Life and Death in the Warehouse? It's shocking. It's at pains to say it's not alluding to any specific retail corporation, but the message is loud and clear.

Oh, I've just seen that it's not available on iplayer...I'll see where I watched it, as I saw it s few weeks ago.

Sorry....I love Amazon. Do a big bulk order every month. Quite a few groceries I cant get anywhere else and all my pet food and supplies.
I dont drive and its just easier waiting in once a month for a delivery.

There's a similar one on Netflix, The Shopping Conspiracy I think.

Congrats. You helped pay for its tax-evading prick of an owner's extravagant second wedding this week.

I use Amazon quite a lot because I have a 2 young children and it's hard for me to get out to the shops, in do often check for competitive pricing though because some of their stuff is sooooo overpriced so I won't buy off there unless it's a competitive price. But yeah I feel guilty about how much I get off Amazon.

Doggymummar · 01/07/2025 20:11

We get a delivery most days. We have coffee, washing powder, shampoo and conditioner vitamins, toilet paper, Regina blitz, elbow grease all on monthly subscription. Then there's my side hustle supplies. OH hobby supplies, exotic foods clothes etc etc

It's on You Tube, I think.

Yesimnuts · 01/07/2025 20:14

i`ve not used amazon in years.
However temu im hooked on it.

Myfridgeiscool · 01/07/2025 20:17

I’ve ditched Amazon. Lots of stuff I can now buy elsewhere far cheaper and the small bits I need I get from EBay with free delivery.

FunkyMonks · 01/07/2025 20:19

I’ve gone off Amazon for shopping now I found there’s a lot of dodgy sellers on there selling fake products and prefer to buy directly from the brands own website where I know it’s genuine or from a genuine company I can trust.
Also it’s a lot of Chinese knock offs selling crap on there these days.

Bridport · 01/07/2025 20:30

I've never bought anything on Amazon and am a strong believer that the wrong Amazon is on fire.
