I have absolutely no clue what to get my daughter for her 21st!

What did you get your kids?

I'm at the point where I'm suggesting a token gift and then a bigger present when she graduates next year.

She had jewellery for her 18th - so don't really want to do that again.

She'd like a keepsake but doesn't know what.

I'm usually ridiculously good with presents as we're really close but I'm completely stuck.

I asked both of mine what they wanted, we decided it was too big a deal to get wrong.

It’s difficult. I bought bits and pieces with an IOU for something special when she can think of something. She is now 22 and we’re still waiting!

Glastonbury tickets fur 2027 (or a gift voucher for these).

She'd love that! Might consider it if I can't find anything else going on next year.

@Jobwelldone shes scared of heights! Just back from SA where they climbed a neighbouring peak to view Table Mountain but she had to stay back for the last push as she was feeling wobbly!

Budget...I guess around the £200-250 mark but if there was something more expensive that was absolutely perfect I'd find a way to make it happen.

@Highlighta i was very much thinking of something along these lines.

We did a long weekend in London for her 18th rather than a party and her dad and I bought her a ring.

She is passionate about live music so I'm keeping an eye out for gigs that she might enjoy. She already has 4 guitars! She has mentioned a speaker but it's not a keepsake type gift is it?

A piece of artwork is a nice idea although I don't think she's sure what she likes so I wouldn't want to second guess. She is into photography though so I may be able to do something with that...a fancy photo book of her recent trips.

For dd1's 18th this year, we gifted her a year of gigs! One a month/12 gigs, until they ran out. She has chosen them all. Some are fairly big artists, some are just starting out at local venues & tickets are around a tenner. We did caveat the gift with "they won't all be on as big a scale as Taylor Swift" and give her (back) the money for the 7 she already had booked this year. I wrote a rhyme & am putting together a scrap book as we go, with photos at the end from the non-birthday gigs we've been to as well.

Should have mentioned - cost has been around £400 ish. She's happy to pay her own travel (and accommodation where necessary).

A nice spa day and treatment in a health farm

I love this! Not sure my budget would though!

Also having googled gigs for next year I can't see anyone DD would fancy...she's an indie/rock and jazz fan and has seen all her faves over the last three years or so. The Kooks are on shortly after her birthday and she's already booked tickets for Scouting for Girls next year...but everyone else she likes has toured or done festivals recently.

i wouldn't mind doing just one gig, maybe in Europe and throw in flights and a hotel. Or VIP tickets...may have to do some more research.

A lot of dd's are very small indie artists, playing tiny venues (Yellow Arch in Sheffield, Bodega in Nottingham being 2 of our favourite venues), and some are random artists Spotify has auto-played from someone else. Most of those are around the £15 mark ish.

It's definitely something I'll look into...could include some comedy gigs as well.

I think a trip sounds like a good idea - though this could end up being significantly more than your budget.

I got a watch for mine and still have it.

I bought my daughter a special necklace she wanted. She loves it and the shop we chose was an experience in itself. I’m buying her the matching bracelet for her graduation

Planning a trip somewhere nice would be a great idea, so she could see new places, take lots of pictures and make memories! If the vacation isn't possible right now you can wait a bit or plan something else. Could be tickets to her favorite band show(s) or music festivals etc.

You can also organize a professional photo shoot for her, hire a photographer and a makeup artist and book a studio. If you plan it beforehand, ask the photographer to send her all the pictures on her actual birthday while sending you some of them in advance. This way you can make a birthday video and include these new pictures in there as well. We did this for my niece's 18th birthday and she LOVED the pictures and this whole experience.

I had some vouchers made for my daughter’s 21st.
21 tickets for 21 shows, concerts, gigs. She was living abroad at the time so I decorated a lovely box and sent the vouchers inside.
She just had to tell me what she wanted to see and we’d pay! She has sorted out her own tickets and we reimburse. She still has lots left which she will use over the next couple of years. Vouchers have space for date, time, gig etc. (Vistaprint)
Sounds expensive but as events have been spread out it’s been easy to absorb.
She sends a photo of her at each event which I stick on the back of each voucher used, as a reminder in years to come.

Can you get to Birmingham? In the jewellery quarter you can learn to make a simple piece of jewellery like a bangle.

I like the coin idea, I've bought them as gifts. I got my nieces and nephew a half sovereign each, they have really gone up in value.

You can also get gold bars.

I gave mine £2100
