Things to do in Cork / Kerry with older kids?

We're visiting family there for two weeks in August (husband born in UK to Irish parents) and have two kids, DS12 and DD8. Already have the Lusitania museum as an idea for DS (our resident expert in maritime disasters). Splitting our time between Cork and Kerry with a trip to Newgrange on our way down from Dublin.

We already have:
Rose of Tralee
Dingle
Listowel
The water park (The Done?) in Tralee that we visited when DS was young.

Are there any things that would be nice to do with the kids in and around the usual family visits?

I would suggest Cobh in Cork tbh for a fab day out . It's a beautiful picturesque little town right on the coast. There is a train which costs only a few euro every half hr from cork city . Cobh ( pronounced cove )is famous for being the last port the Titanic set sail from. There are 2 or 3 small museums there with lots of memorabilia from the Titanic and also the Luisitania. My son actually works in one of them atm.
Then very nearby ..it's actually the stop before Cobh on the trainline ..is FOTA island wildlife park. This place is really lovely , on an island in Cork Harbour...allow a few hours for this. Lots of animals but different to a standard zoo as they roam freely (not dangerous animals obviously).
I would plan an entire day for this tbh and I would do Cobh and the little museums first and then go to FOTA afterwards.
Best to do on a dry day if possible obviously.

Visit Cobh, Kinsale, Blarney (for castle and to kiss the Blarney Stone) all around 1/2 hour from Cork. Cork Gaol is worth a visit. It is on the red bus tour route, or you could walk from the centre of town.

Where will you be based? Get out onto the islands — from Baltimore you can get to Sherkin and Cape Clear. From the tip of the Beara peninsula, you can take a cable car to Dursey Island. Skellig Michael (monastic ruins, Luke Skywalker’s retreat) is magical, but might well be totally booked for months, as very limited landings permitted. Or the Blaskets. Dolphin and whale watching tours. Lough Hyne for kayaking. Surf school at Inchydoney beach. Boat trip around the Fastnet?

The Skelligs are amazing, but you need the right weather .
