A day and evening on my own in Bath, suggestions please!

I will have a day and evening in Bath by myself, while my DH is at a work thing. Please can I have your suggestions of things to do during the day, and also some where I would feel comfortable sitting with a book and having some dinner in the evening. I did do the Baths many years ago, happy to revisit, but I am assuming that won’t take all day. I will have a car and don’t mind travelling a bit too.
Thanks!

When you say you did the baths do you mean the Roman museum bit or the spa / steam room baths? Have done both and really enjoyed them! Plus some of the walks out and around the abbey and the national trust school give lovely scenery, as does the botanical garden.

Food wise - it was a couple years ago so would await other answers but I recall so many good bistro places with very appetizing menus, especially set lunch deals! I still don’t get the fuss about the Lun Bun though!

No 1 Royal Crescent and the Herschel museum are both excellent. And the shopping!

Yes sorry the museum bit, I remember there being an audio tour which was interesting but it was a long time ago!
Thanks for the suggestions, much appreciated

Coffee and cake or lunch at the Holburne is lovely. Beautiful outside space and one of the bridgerton residences .

Agree number 1 ( and Herschel).

Thermal Bath Spa is great. Roof top swimming pool, steam rooms, saunas etc.
You could spend most of the day there, but certainly the afternoon.

Ghost walk in the eve

Agree Thermae spa is a lovely way to spend an afternoon, they do treatments too if you want to spoil yourself a bit! Or how about a boat trip from Pulteney Bridge, we did this a few years back and it was great.

If you like cinema there is also a very nice Picturehouse there.

Eating wise, I’d recommend Yak Yeti Yak, great food and it’s a very small, laid back place, would be fine to hang out there with a book. For lunch we usually go to the Whole Bagel which again is very chilled and you could happily chill out there over lunchtime.

Have a lovely time.

We did an excellent group walk in the evening a long while back, part comedy, part street performance, part ghost (silly ghost), part history. It was great.

So perhaps look at group evening walks and book in something that takes your fancy.

Also the council put on free daytime walking tours which are very interesting

Also see what is on at the Theatre Royal or the Ustinov Studio - we have seen some great productions there which have then moved up to the West End

Cycle to Bristol, all traffic free

Theres a lovely cocktail bar in a restaurant Emberwood, best bloody Mary Ive ever had, gorgeous 'british' chorizo and brilliant mushroom croquettas.

The Holburne museum is great for browsing, and I second the cafe recommendation. There are lots of other little museums in Bath if you have already done the Roman Baths, eg the Museum of East Asian Art (lots of lovely ceramics and good temporary exhibitions).

If you happen to be vegetarian, treat yourself to lunch or dinner at Oak (Michelin-listed but still reasonably priced and casual veggie small plates restaurant, near the Abbey).

Have you visited Lacock?
Would need your car, but it’s not very far, pretty much the whole village is owned by the National Trust, the Abbey is well worth a visit and there are lots of quiet places you can read a book.
The village is used in loads of period dramas inc. Downton Abbey. and Lacock Abbey was used in the Harry Potter films.
