Are all-inclusive holidays during school holidays the hell that I imagine?

Daughter starts school in September so looking at holidays for next year in July/August. My DH is really keen to go to an all inclusive resort with kids clubs & entertainment as he has fond memories from when he was younger.

I've looked at a few and they seem nice on the surface but then I get into the reviews and the same complaints seem to pop up - long queues for food, food not being great, battling to get a sunbed, packed like sardines in the pool... honestly this is my idea of hell! But I do like the idea of having all the facilities and the convenience of it all so I wonder if I'm looking for a unicorn trying to find one that has everything but isn't heaving during school holidays? Is it a price bracket thing?

Could anyone recommend anywhere? Thanks!

Mainly yes. Holiday Village Ibiza cost 7k for two weeks and you had to be up at 5 to get sunbeds and walk on a carpet of chips at the buffet. Never Again.

well yes but Ibiza? Why would you go there unless to get pissed?

Weird response. The HV are AIs specifically geared towards families. Ibiza is absolutely lovely anyway. Have you only heard of San Antonio and think the clubs are the only thing about Ibiza?
Regardless, most AIs could be anywhere, you just want it to be sunny.

We’ve done Turkey a few times and it has been amazing. Water park on site, pools bigger than football pitches, tons of food options, great kid clubs all air con, lovely hotels, very insta worthy. We got a room last time with a swim up pool which was pretty chilled out. The resort was so big it didn’t feel cramped.

Also done Barbados twice and that was also amazing.

You have to go 4 star and up.

we did Spain one year and I was not impressed. It was lower quality, lots of tattooed brits dashing for sun loungers at 7am. If you are going to do it, Turkey have nailed it.

Really? Ibiza is a a beautiful island, there’s lots of family areas and really quiet areas, it’s the only place I would keep going back to, my parents keep going back in their 70s, just don’t go to san antonio

Ikos is expensive (very!) but extremely civilised. High ratio of facilities to guests - there’s always plenty of space around you.
