Flat tyres. Why one car but not the other?

We have two cars. Both parked in the same place and both do roughly the same journeys. If you’re doing a long drive then we always use one, but for the rest of the time we use them both the same.

Since 2021, the Kia has had 16 nails/screws etc through the tyre causing a puncture and needing something done. The Volvo has had one occasion with something damaging the tyre. Both cars have the same brand of tyres from the same garage.

why?! Any theories?

We have the same OP. Old small car seems to be fine, whereas bigger EV is getting flats all the time. Like you were switch cares depending on who is doing nursery drop off, but we do live out in the country where potholes are rife and debris from farms are everywhere. Our old Volvo used to need new tyres regularly due to big cuts etc (before the EV), so I assume it is the weight of the car causing issues.

Hi OP, are you having the tyre pressure warning light come on or are you having flats tyres ?

I'm just asking because my tyre pressure warning light was regularly coming on.

The reason for.it was that the car ended up with minutely different tyres sizes ie 155/55 and 155/50.

As the tyre pressure is monitored by the rotation of the wheel this is why the warning light kept coming on.

I changed the tyres so they are now all the exact same size and haven't had an issue since.

Potentially you've already checked that the tyre sizes are all exactly the same but I thought it was worthwhile mentioning as it might help others.

The light would come on, we’d look at the tyre and see a nail or similar in it.
