In perimenopause...when do you stop testing for pregnancy?

I'm 42 and my cycles are getting further and further apart. My record was 48 days last September, but then I had a few normal 30 day cycles in a row, and a few 35 dayers. Once I get past around day 30, I do a pregnancy test, even though we always use condoms and we are not ttc. I'm now on day 43 of the latest cycle and am thinking will I just leave it and if it doesnt come and i start throwing up I'll test then. Do other people test every time their period is late? It's like a have a weird paranoia from my teenage years that I can't shift!

Honestly if youre peri and using contraception id really not be worrying or testing.
If youre using condoms effectively then you have a very low chance of getting pregnant added to your age and fertility changes etc being peri id relax about it.

Perhaps your partner would consider a vasectomy if youre not planning on expanding your family?

I’ve never tested for pregnancy unless I was actively TTC. I knew I was pregnant all 3 times from about 5dpo. There is no way a surprise pregnancy could sneak past me. I would definitely know!

My cycles are anywhere from 21 to 60 days long (I’m 44). I’m on the pill. I couldn’t be asked with regular testing and I think the chances are very slim.

Ok this is a relief. It's confusing when you're coming out of an era when you constantly hear 'there's always a chance of pregnancy if you have sex' and 'no contraception is 100% reliable' etc etc. I agree the chances are low but it's always at the back of my mind!
