Vinted lost the parcel (I’m the seller)

ThirstyMeeples · 25/06/2025 18:31

Any advice please? Someone bought a bundle from me of board games. I wrapped them up and put them in the locker but only 1 arrived according to the buyer (who I assume is telling the truth)
We both raised an issue with Vinted but it’s like banging my head against a brick wall. The buyer is being lovely about it and offered to pay for the 1 game.
Vinted just keep coming back saying items were not as described which is just daft. I’ve replied so many times asking them what the lost property process is and keep getting the same spiel about damaged goods and refunding the buyer.
I think I’m corresponding with a human now, rather than the bot when I first raised an issue but I don’t know how to get any further.
Think I’m just going have to suck it up but it’s disappointing as I definitely posted all the games and just feel like they don’t believe me.
Lots of people online say they were offered refunds but I’m not getting that option from Vinted.
Thanks.

Were they wrapped up separately and put in the same locker?

EddieMunson · 25/06/2025 18:36

If the parcel was lost completely, then you’d refund the buyer and claim compensation via the mailing service used (I’m guessing InPost, due to the locker).

if the parcel was damaged, causing some of the contents to be lost, I guess the process would be the same?

Just give up, honestly. I could never get anywhere with a claim as a seller for a stolen parcel (absolute proof of the theft but not the thief). It was a nightmare.

The games were funny shapes and quite large so wrapped separately so I could get them into the locker. I did check online and couldn’t see anything about this not being acceptable.
I think you’re right I’ll have to give up. I’m getting the same answer back repeatedly which isn’t addressing what I’m saying. So disappointed.

Vinted will complain unless they are boxed. I’ve had similar happen

ThirstyMeeples · 25/06/2025 19:18

I’ve never done a bundle before and didn’t realise I could just change the size of the locker for free. I thought it would incur a charge for the buyer so I just got them into a medium locker. I’ll know for next time! Thanks

Yeah that's on you, it needs to be '1 parcel' so even if you package separately you then need to tape together into 1 parcel, they only have 1 address label to stick on the 1 package

HenDoNot · 25/06/2025 19:19

The whole point of selling a ‘bundle’ is to save postage by only having one parcel.

You can’t send 3 separate parcels with 1 postage label or QR code.

This is on you unfortunately.

Smartiepants79 · 25/06/2025 19:20

So they paid postage for 1 parcel and you’ve packaged it and tried to send it as several separate parcels??
I think you’ve messed up….

SendTheNextOneIn · 25/06/2025 19:20

Were the games all wrapped separately but only one had a label on? Or were they all wrapped together? If separate then I can understand why only one arrived.

They aren’t all going to have valid shipping code so this wasn’t going to work. The one that had a shipping label went to the buyer, the others will be lost with the courier because they are unmarked. A label is for one parcel.

Think of it like putting an addressed envelope in a post box with a stamp and another 3 envelopes with no stamps or addresses, they obviously won’t end up where you want them.

ThirstyMeeples · 25/06/2025 19:22

They just offered me a deal for a bundle so I accepted. I them bubble wrapped them all and packaged to ensure no damage. The wouldn’t go in the locker if all strapped together so I separated them to get them to fit in.
I will suck it up; just disappointed. I know they must be out there somewhere but where? Do Vinted just dispose of things?

ThirstyMeeples · 25/06/2025 19:22

It was a digital label so the label just opened the locker. Not sure what the Vinted handler would do in this situation.

Divebar2021 · 25/06/2025 19:25

It’s not Vinted it’s the carrier the buyer has selected so InPost. They have a help line ( I have spoken to a human on them).

Lemonsugarpancake · 25/06/2025 19:25

Have you contacted the courier? Surely it isn't an issue for Vinted to sort out. They are nothing to do with parcels.

Isyesterdaytomorrowtoday · 25/06/2025 19:26

Vinted are the selling platform, the courier sounds like inpost in this situation (given locker) - the digital label is for a single parcel so this is on you for using one label for multiple parcels unfortunately. I’d just suck it up and refund

Barrenfieldoffucks · 25/06/2025 19:28

Vinted don't have them, they're not a postal service. Whichever postal service you used have them, as the majority won't have a mailing label on.

It’s also your responsibility to select the appropriate postage for the bundle, the large lockers are quite big.

The qr code for the locker is the equivalent of one pre paid shipping label. The courier will have opened the locker, put the one available label on his system on the first item and the rest will have gone to the depo but without a label it won’t be easy for them to be traced.

HenDoNot · 25/06/2025 19:30

I know they must be out there somewhere but where?

Sliding around in the back of a van with no delivery label or return address or means of identification.

Refund your buyer, including their postage costs. It’s entirely your fault.

ThirstyMeeples · 25/06/2025 19:33

I really don’t need snippy responses about refunding the buyer. I already said I’d have to suck it up. I am not planning to rip off the buyer- not that I could if I wanted to as the transaction gets cancelled though.

I did contact Inpost but they directed me straight back to Vinted.

Is it Evri?

I had an eBay parcel lost by them for about 6 weeks.

They claimed the buyer wasn't in when they tried to deliver... three times. This seemed somewhat unlikely as they'd asked it to be delivered to a Post Office, and the delivery time was in the middle of opening hours.

So they said they'd return it to me. (x2)

It never came.

They then said they had delivered it to the Post Office. No parcel that size was there. They tried saying that a few times. Buyer (lovely buyer!) kept dropping in to check.

So eventually I agreed with the buyer that I'd refund them (they were disappointed as they wanted the item) and I put a claim in for lost parcel.
Amazingly it was found within 24 hours and delivered to the Post Office.

Wouldn't use them again.

EddieMunson · 25/06/2025 20:04

I’m pretty sure InPost state one parcel per locker. The locker screen also comes up with a prompt asking if the parcel is too big to fit. I’ve never had to use that, so not sure if it then offers a larger locker or if you it’s a further cost

Honestly, I sympathize but I’m not sure how the other parcels were supposed to get there without a label.

I’m afraid this is one to take the hit and learn from.
