Delayed online food shop question

If an online food shop was 2 hours late, would you think fresh food will be ok? The frozen stuff was a bit wet (think frozen pizza box feeling quite damp, as opposed to totally soaked through). The chilled stuff like fish, prawns and mince still felt cool-ish, but not cold, and had the wetness from the frozen stuff all over them so couldn’t tell if the item itself was still cool enough. I’m thinking I could freeze those things as surely can’t have gone off in that time? Cheese and yoghurt and milk - could be iffy?

Driver commented they’d been stuck in traffic for 2 hours gridlocked and standstill. I’m assuming the trucks do keep things frozen and chilled to a point as long as the engine is running, but I’m also assuming from the amount of moisture that things like the frozen meat products might have begun to thaw a bit and so might not be safe for putting in the freezer. Anyone more knowledgable than me on the temps the vans can stay at? Or WWYD? Thanks!

I can’t speak to every store, but as far as I know, Tesco keeps chilled things chilled and frozen things separate in a frozen section. The trucks are out driving around for at least 6 hours on a normal shift and they sit around in the boxes at the store for hours before that, so they will have to keep things at the right temperature.

The vans have in-built fridges and freezers.

It'll be fine. They're built to keep things at the right temp, it's not like being in a normal car boot

Thank you. That’s what I’d always assumed, but with the amount of wetness it seemed like something had been defrosting. Maybe it was condensation instead.

It wouldn't even occur to me that this would be a question, the van doesn't go back to the shop between each delivery they are built to keep the food in the right condition

I’m wary of getting frozen stuff from Ocado and I love Ocado

the frozen items are all together for all customers in a couple of boxes, they don’t have separate crates like the rest of the shop, they sometimes pull them out for the next couple of deliveries and put them in the fridge boxes. I've seen them do this outside my door once they’ve delivered mine

the only thing I get is ice, yes you are supposed to drop it bang it to separate the cubes, but on some occasions it’s been so frosted/de frosted it’s just one solid unusable lump

i did try with some lollies, the cardboard was wet and you could squash the frozen lollies with your fingers

No I know it wouldn’t go back to the shop @cyvguhbbut the fact the driver said how long he’d been stuck, that I’d had a text saying it was on its way about 1pm due for 5, then didn’t arrive til nearly 8, plus all the soggy wet stuff just gave me a pause about the meat, dairy and frozen items. I once had a terrible bout of food poisoning from partially thawed then refrozen then thawed and cooked meat, so I’m cautious!
