Why are school trips so expensive now. Trip to go ape 40.00. Also a trip away 2 night stay . For 355 pounds. Its so expensive.

There's families out there using food banks. People may not agree but i don't think any child should miss out.

There's no consessions or voluntary contributions.

My kid’s primary school stopped doing trips due to this. Now they do a whole school trip every year to a country park or similar, which is fully funded by the PTA and parent partnership through fundraising (so we still pay that way) and also through donations from local businesses. Then they also take the whole school to a Christmas panto which is also funded by the parent partnership and PTA fundraising.

We do technically pay through the fundraising but all the school discos and activities are free, and you can make a voluntary donation so the only parents who actually pay are those who can afford it. Loads of parents pay nothing towards the fundraising all year as they can’t afford but I’ve never heard anyone complain.

The kids don’t get trips to expensive places, that’s the only downside. But the last country park trip was actually great; they’d manage to pay for circus trainers to come along and teach circus skills outside in the sun, they had ice creams, they did orienteering and tug of war and got out the huge parachute. The kids have a great time!

P7 parents do have to pay for the residential trip but that’s the only thing.

It's not that they're expensive, but they're just shit. DD's school is going to Paris in a couple of weeks. One day in actual Paris, seeing a few 'big' sights, one day in Disney, and the third day in some other amusement park (forgot the name). Then a short ride to see the Mametz Wood memorial and then home. So basically one day in Paris and two amusement parks. £700.

We've been to Paris and Venice (during carnival!) in February, DD and me. 3 full days in Paris, then one day in Disney (so tickets for both). Visited the sights, went to museums, did the Seine cruise and went to a gig (an American singer I like, fairly popular so ££; tickets bought in advance, but included in total). Then flew to Venice and spent 3 days sightseeing. So 2 people, 7 days, about £1600-ish including multiple flights, hotels, tickets to attractions, gig and Disney, etc. Yes, Paris is cheaper in February, but Venice is most definitely NOT (during the carnival).

I'm not paying £700 for a shit trip. I can, but I won't.
