Flights to Heathrow

I'm currently on holiday in the south of India visiting my family but due to return back to London in a week and a half

Will what's happening in the Gulf have any significant impact on my flight? I just assume they'll fly well away from the impacted airspace and that'll be it

I've lived in the ME for over 15 years (still do) and have had to divert over and around various places there en route back to London, depending on whatever is happening security wise throughout that time, it's very normal procedure.

Pilots will do a comprehensive flight plan, taking into account all of those risks and threats to get round any risks safely.

Is it a direct flight? If so yes, it's likely to be rerouted around the hotspots so might take slightly longer. If the conflict spreads further, they might not be able to run as many flights. Keep checking the app or website of your airline.

Used to fly Mumbai loads on BA and would take the northerly route up to Delhi (ie north east!) and Uzbekistan if needed/problems in Gulf rather than up the Straits of Hormuz, would add an hour or so on the return maybe 1.5

This is unrelated to my post but what's Mumbai like? I've wanted to visit

Unbearable hot or just mildly uncomfortable?

Yep,.pretty much..

There might be a few minor changes after tonight but most India-UK flights ATM route either south of Iran, over the Arabian Sea, Oman, west across Saudi,.north west toward Cairo then Europe UK.

The other option is northwestwardsover Afghanistan and then sort.of westwards over the Caspian sea and eventually northern Turkey..

Usually sits 33c most of the year but very humid. Monsoon (June, July and August) can be miserable and a LOT of flooding (and water diseases increasing), it’s a two season climate - wet or dry and temp doesn’t vary much across the year
