Gift for post mastectomy

DH and I are friends with a couple and the wife was diagnosed with breast cancer and two weeks ago had a double mastectomy.

They live a few hours drive away and have loads of family support so practicalities like childcare, cooking and housework are covered thankfully.

I'd like to put together a hamper of gifts for them as family, they have two DC, a boy 5 and a girl 9 - does anyone have any suggestions, I was thinking of some nice food and drink bits but Im struggling to think of anything else?

When I've done this, I've sent a gift just to rhe person who's been sick, not their whole family.

I'd go for a box of beautiful iced biscuits from Biscuitters, your friend can share with the rest of the family if she wants to.

Oh that’s a lovely thought. Yes nice food and nibbles. Maybe an easy family game like Dobble or something? Some nice chocs and shower gel for mum. Colouring books for kids?

My mate is having hers this week. She's absolutely over the moon. Obviously some people won't be, but I've made her a card with a heart shape and inside that a pair of boobs with a cross through them. And lots of sequins. So that's the tone my friend is into. Fun, happy, relieved. And then we'll take her for lunch when she's ready.

It really depends on the person so why not just ask what they like. I don't think their entire family requires gifts also?

To keep children busy:

Easy games like Dobble, Pass The Pigs,
Boggle

Rainbow drawing pads - this sort of thing - www.amazon.co.uk/Genialba-Colorful-Learning-Educational-Christmas/dp/B0BJ6M9ZYW

Sticker books

Yoto player

For her:

Soft button-down pyjamas

Graze-type snacks

Lip balm, body butter etc - get a luxury version of something every day and someone automatically feels pampered even when they’re not well.

For the family:

Cook vouchers (I know you’ve said family will help, but they take the pressure off everyone)

Obviously my suggestions are pick and mix depending on budget and your knowledge of your friend!

Thank you for the suggestions so far. The husband mentioned today that the kids were getting a bit fed up as they've haven't been getting out as much as they normally do so I'll get one of the suggested games.

I'll pop to M&S tomorrow and pick up some nice nibbles for them to share and some pampering bits for the wife
