Loss of feeling after wisdom tooth extraction

I had my lower wisdom tooth removed on Friday. I knew before I had it done that there was a risk of loss of sensation due to where the root was positioned near the nerve. However, I (naively) didn't really think it would happen. Well, it has. I feel like I have had a local anaesthetic in my chin/lip/lower teeth. It is a really horrible sensation. I feel like I am drooling every time I eat. I know that this is likely to be temporary but could be permanent. I just wanted any encouraging stories about when/if/how it is likely to go better as I am feeling quite miserable at the moment.

Have you been in touch with where it was done? I had one out a few months ago, they wanted me back of I didn't have full sensation after 24 hours, not the 2 weeks like the written information said. I had very slight sensation loss that was gone in a few days.
(In stark contrast to the carnage post childbirth where not a fig is given if you loose sensation)
