Anyone good at piping cakes?

I'm an absolute beginner baker but want to attempt to make some cupcakes for my son's birthday (see photo below).

I have a piping set with all the different nozzles but looking for someone to point me in the direction of which sort I'd use for all the different elements on here. Is there anything other equipment you'd recommend to achieve this?

Also, I want the buttercream to be vivid like the example. Would gel food colouring be the better option?

TIA

Hey everyone,

I promised to update once I'd made the final cupcakes. Here's a picture of them, alongside a Mario pull apart cake, which was always my plan.

It's the first ever birthday cake I've ever made. There were a few hiccups along the way, but, overall, I'm quite proud of the outcome! Please be kind if you think it's rubbish! 🙈

I love that!

Great hat!

And the icing on the buns look brilliant. Good colours.

Thanks everyone! You've all been so helpful and now so kind. 🥰

@IAmNeverThePerson, 6 year olds are hard to please apparently... he said he liked it but the icing was too bumpy. 🤦🏻‍♀️
