Is Tunisia really as bad as some say?

I'm going to Tunisia next week with my 18 year old dd.
I've just made the mistake of searching old threads. It seems it's dirty and dangerous and we will be stalked and harassed everywhere we go.
We are in a nice hotel, all inclusive so don't necessarily need to leave the resort.
But I love exploring and would really like to leave the resort.
Is it really bad? Any tips please.

We weren’t a couple of ‘dopey’ women though. We dressed respectfully and wanted to explore outside the hotel. Which is what we tried to do, and why we didn’t go to Spain instead, otherwise what’s the point of visiting somewhere different if you’re just sat in the complex all day drinking cocktails on a lounger.

Dunno.

Since I got older (by which I mean once I got into my 20s) I have found a fast pace and a resting bitch face to be helpful, also being happy to shout at people. Also worked in the Middle East a bit, so plenty of practice at scaring the bejesus out of a certain type of man.

editing to point out I find most people in Tunisia welcoming and respectful, I only shout at arseholes

I’ve been to Tunisian many times for work (history related), a lone tourist, with my eldest daughter when she was younger and never had an issue. I’m blonde and blue eyed. I’d recommend the local food, and getting out and exploring. The ruins of Carthage are amazing. (Not sure where you’re going) I mean obviously don’t go out alone in the middle of the night but then that’s true of London, and almost every other city unfortunately.

They are her age, they don't mean any harm.
The leery older men get my best "fuck off you pervert" look if they so much as glance in her direction.

You’re a good mum! I do that when I see slimey sleazes looking at teenagers, if I’m feeling bold I embarrass them as I walk past by saying something loudly 😆

Annoying definitely but I didn't feel unsafe.
I wouldn't go back as I don't like to be annoyed on holiday but if I'd never been, and even having the experiences I did, I would have the one trip.

When I say annoying I mean the men. But I also feel the same about Turkey. Marrakech on the other hand was less annoying for me. I quite like a haggle in the market.
