What food always triggers certain memories for you when you eat it?

I’m just sat here in the garden enjoying my toast for breakfast, and it’s bringing back childhood memories. Whenever I eat marmalade or raspberry jam on toast it always makes me think of childhood holidays in B&Bs or hotels at the seaside, where you’d come down to the dining room in the morning and there’d always be a full toast rack in the middle of the table.

Orange squash makes me think of visiting my grandparents, because that’s what they always had in the cupboard, I’d sit drinking it in the garden surrounded by flowers.

Creme Caramel pudding makes me think of my first holiday in Spain, where it was always on the lunch and dinner buffet, so I ate them, every day, twice a day!

Watermelon takes me back to Italy, DH and I practically ate our body weight in it, it was so hot 😁

A cheese and salad cob takes me right back to the school canteen offerings in summer 😬

Does anyone else find when they eat a certain food it instantly brings back memories of years ago?

If I haven't had coke for awhile the first sip takes me back to Singapore 1973.

Was that where you first tasted it? I imagine it was very hot and humid!

When I saw your thread title I immediately thought raspberry jam funnily enough. I have a vague memory of my mum going through a phase of making raspberry jam when I was a child....I hadn't had any for years and tried some recently....it was so nostalgic!

@ComedycookI don’t actually eat it that often either, maybe why it triggers strong memories for me!
