Good Morning Everyone! What's everyone up to today?

I'm just drinking my first cuppa of the day, in my kitchen spot. The kittens are off sleeping again after breakfast. I've got the washer going for dd2's uniform - the only load of the day I think 🥳.

Plan for today is to pack the moving boxes we have, hose down the few plastic boxes that have lived outside, and pack those too. There aren't many so it won't take long. There are more crates in the loft someone will have to go up for so we can continue packing in them through the week.

Once that's done, I'll spend a few hours painting the next peg dolls for work - Zog and The Day The Crayons Quit, this time. I've brought some laminating home to do too, rather than waiting for the single laminator at work during break when everyone & their nan wants it 🙄.

Dd2 wants to do her homework and revise for her upcoming Chemistry and Spanish GCSE mocks. She might join me down here to do it, she does quite like to spread out while she's working.

Dd1 will probably have a very lazy day - she finished her A Levels yesterday & is going out out tonight with her college friends.

I have no idea what's for tea - we need a shop but I don't want to do one a week before moving & cart it all there 🤷‍♀️.

Later on, it'll be chill for an hour with my book, before heading to bed. I might look for a small gift for my colleagues, to celebrate the end of the year, but other than that, very
much a nothingy evening.

What about all of you? 🙂

That’s great that you found a new home so quickly @lucysmam & that you will have more space 🏡

princessspotify · 21/06/2025 11:06

Morning All. I was up and out and did park run.
We're currently redecorating our youngest Ds bedroom so have some furniture to take to the tip.
This evening will be an early dinner and then Dh and i are off to see A midsummer's night dream at an open air theatre.

Crunchymum · 21/06/2025 11:27

Due to be 34c here in London so we've had to cancel our afternoon plans (meeting up with the 12yo's old classmates and some of the parents) The meet up itself hasn't been cancelled but the 7yo just isn't coping in the heat and I can't expect her to be in a park when it's 34c!!

We've just done 2 out of 3 swimming lessons so I've spent 1.5h in sauna like temperatures and I feel quite sick. Back for an hour long lesson for DC2 soon but we're taking fans and ice poles etc.

Then home to sit in a dark room, under the fans.

Absolutely no idea about dinner. DC1 is out at a friend's until about 7pm and DP is out for birthday drinks for a friend so it's just the girls and I. Probably just a chicken stir fry or something quick and easy (and not involving the oven!)

Can't wait to wake up a much more bearable 26c tomorrow.

Whattheduck · 21/06/2025 11:35

@RabbitsRock thanks x

Good morning everyone.

I had a long sleep and got up later than usual. I think the heat yesterday tired me out. I'm surprised considering how hot it was in the night, that I slept so well.

I've done a quick housework run-around and been to Aldi. It was so cool in there compared to outside, bliss for 20 minutes. They'd sold out of ice cream.

Now drinking a cuppa. Not sure what the afternoon will hold - I need to do a bit of work in the garden but it's very hot out there. My printer has stopped working so may have to spend an hour fiddling with that as I've got some documents that need printing out.

lucysmam · 21/06/2025 11:51

@Thislittlekitten very jealous! We have four weeks left until the summer hols - we're all ready now!

Hello @lucysmam and everyone.

Great news that you found a house so quickly @lucysmam.

I am having a lazy morning as was out all day yesterday until lateish and was awake in the night a few times as I seem to have hurt by back at the gym yesterday so it kept waking me up. Not too bad today thankfully.

Go woken up around 6.30 by torrential rain here. I think there is more to come judging by how heavy and humid it is.

I’m just about to hang some washing up and have an early mini lunch. We are going to a 50th wedding anniversary party this afternoon at some neighbours which will no doubt go on until late. Which reminds me I need to iron DH’s trousers in a bit. He would do it himself but he’s injured his knee.

frozendaisy · 21/06/2025 12:16

afternoon all

it’s too hot here but sitting in garden in shade drinking ice cold water after coffees earlier

going to have a chill day with teens

ribs, potato salad type thing for dinner later

cluttering needs doing will slowly do some laundry

life is summer easy after months of gcse fun so enjoying the brief respite!

Dontsayyouloveme · 21/06/2025 12:42

Currently on holiday in Majorca so sat around the pool, contemplating lunch soon. We’re meant to be heading into the centre of Palma this afternoon but my son had a bloody seizure last night (I hate epilepsy so much 💔💔) so we are having a quiet day in the shade..

MsPengiuns · 21/06/2025 12:44

Hope everyone has a good weekend.

Glad you have found somewhere nice to move to @lucysmam

DH and I were gardening yesterday with 3 silkie chickens following us round so we got up late this morning, well apart from the cat's 3am tuna wake-up call. Cat was very generous after that letting me and DH sleep until 10.20am.

Off this afternoon to May Bumps rowing garden party though it will be very hot here at 31C. Just collecting some shopping before then from 3 shops.

MsPengiuns · 21/06/2025 12:48

Sorry to hear about the seizure @Dontsayyouloveme. Hope you can all still enjoy Majorca.

Tarkan · 21/06/2025 12:55

Afternoon lucysmam and all!

Having a bit of a lazy day today. I’m dogsitting for a friend while she’s away staying with family so I’ve taken the dog out this morning and just chilling in her house now.

I help at our local am dram theatre and tonight is closing night of our most recent play so I might pop along to the after party later if I feel up to it.

MostArdently · 21/06/2025 12:58

Good afternoon! We were up early to tidy the garden before the rain, thunderstorms forecast for this afternoon. We’ve cut the grass and weeded and it’s looking much tidier. I’ve washed the uniform for next week too. DD (she has a learning disability) has asked 3 times for a cafe this morning so that’s this afternoon’s plan! Have a good one everyone!

InglouriousBasterd · 21/06/2025 13:18

Happy Saturday all, I do love this thread. So glad you found a place Lucysmam!! That’s amazing news and it sounds lovely.

I pottered down to the local farmer’s market this morning and splurged on posh olives. Had a little wander and am now in a cafe with an iced latte, it’s so humid today here in London.

Planning to do a bit of cleaning and then a chilled evening, might watch a film!

CharlotteStreetW1 · 21/06/2025 13:19

Morning all!

I've been for pre holiday mani-pedi-brow treatments this morning and I really need to start packing (5.30am flight on Monday).

DH is out at a local event he's been organising. It ends with a proms in the park type thing this evening so I will join him later with a picnic along with some of his family as it's his birthday. It's a lovely occasion and literally only 100 yards from our house.

I'm feeling a bit anxious as one of my cats has been missing in action since yesterday. It's not unheard of but he's a black cat and it's soooo hot... 😿

Selfsetfree · 21/06/2025 13:46

Good morning! I have been to help dc at their activity which was sooo hot! Off to town as dc have eye tests later. Chicken thighs and salad for tea. I no longer have a bbq which would have been nice but never mind! @Dontsayyouloveme i hope all is ok now and you enjoy your holiday.

Judellie · 21/06/2025 19:08

It was really hot so didn't get dressed for ages; considered a shower but my hair is still lovely and swishy from the hairdressers on Thursday.
Then went off to meet my sister at Brockbushes near Corbridge; not been for years and it used to be an upmarket coffee shop and a small farm shop as well as the strawberry picking.
It's now much more child friendly, the shop is bigger, the cafe is bigger but more 'functional', there's inflatable slides, face painting etc.
We had our dinner but I don't think we'll meet there again as our children have grown now and we'd prefer remembering going there with our lovely mum when she was still with us, as she considered it a big treat.
You have to book a slot via QR code now to do the strawberry picking so I was pleased we didn't, as although it had been lovely and sunny initially, it then tipped it down and we spent sometime waiting for it to stop before returning to the cars!
Picked my daughter up from her part time job at a soft play at 3 then came home and didn't do much as it was muggy.
Took my daughter to Metrocentre for someone's 18th and picking her up later.
Went to Tesco and did the food shop.
I had considered doing that at Morrisons tomorrow on the way to/from picking DD up again but she got a message to say that she wasn't needed at work tomorrow so is quite pleased to get the day off.
Stripped my bed as there was hardly any washing but my daughter had thought she needed her (one) work top again tomorrow, the wash was on befoer we knew that.
Made my bed when i got back with the shopping
I'm hoping not to do much tomorrow as it's so hot but I will probably end up giving lifts to church. And should really do some housework!
Off to read what everyone else is up to now.

Yay.

Hope you are able to have a nice evening (and a nice holiday)

lucysmam · 21/06/2025 19:35

@CharlotteStreetW1 I'm glad to see your cat's back! Any idea where he's been? I'd be lost without my two furry idiots!

Missed the thread this morning as I was at work. Did a 12 hour hot humid shift, finished at 6pm home and showered now but I’m still too hot 🥵.
Currently enjoying a nice cold glass of wine, dogs are snoozing, DP is watching Isle of Wight festival, dd17 is on FaceTime to her best friend and dd9 is having an hour of screen time.
Happy Saturday night all

No idea but he was filthy! He came in bang on feeding time, just the 24 hours late 🙄

He's not the most affectionate cat and he has a comedy meow - it's more like a peep - but I was so delighted to hear it when he announced his return.

DilemmaDelilah · 22/06/2025 17:35

I've just come back on to let you all know that Mr Dilemma has blotted his copybook!

I have just peeled, thinly sliced, and blanched the potato slices to go on top of the delicious pork mince with vegetables my mouth is expecting to eat this evening, only to find that he has got out a container of cottage pie base! Equally delicious but not what my mouth is looking forward to.

And - we don't have enough potatoes left to do mash - so I have to have it with scalloped potatoes on top.

And - it doesn't have vegetables in it (except onions) so I have to do extra vegetables and I only have carrots left. I like carrots... but I thought I was going to have the huge variety of different vegetables I had put in with the pork mince.

Rant over!
