Would you take a buggy on holiday with a 4 year old?

That's it really!

She doesn't need it for anything currently but I was wondering it might be useful around some of the cities we're going to if she gets tired and starts to protest. I just wonder if she's too old for a buggy? She's just turned 4 also (in case this matters?!!)

I wouldn't - but I have a younger child too and last time we did a city break (older child aged 3.5) we borrowed one with a buggy board with a little seat on. But I also wouldn't do the sort of city day trip that's mostly walking around looking at monuments with my 4yo because he would get bored whether walking or in a buggy, and then it would be less enjoyable for us too. He loves a walk and looking at stuff, but I'd build in more breaks and play than I would for just adults, and I'd expect to see fewer separate sights. So I guess it depends on your 4yo and not just her walking stamina but also her stamina for loooong days out sightseeing.

Having had to buy one while away for a 3.5 year old, I’d say yes. Far less exhausting than having to carry them or listen to whining.
We also once had to buy one for a Gds of around that age. He’d run anywhere, but walk along city pavements? 😱

Children do vary so much, though. Dd1 was walking at 12 months and invariably wanted to walk.
DD2 still loved the buggy at 3+.

Why?

There's always plenty to do for young kids in all the cities, you just need to pick up your itinerary and do a bit of everything.

I would. My 5yo still gets in his little brothers buggy occasionally. I'd rather take a buggy than listen to complaining or have go home early because they're tired. They're also handy for putting stuff in.

I didn't say people shouldn't, just that I wouldn't - because my 4yo loves a monument but he wouldn't handle a really packed itinerary with 'a bit of everything' in it. We'd be more likely to pick one or two things and spend longer on those.
