Help with booking flights

I seem to be going round in circles!

need to book DD a flight to USA. Ideally was looking for an open ticket but Skyscanner needs a return date. Open to a flexible ticket or even a single if it was half the price of a return but again Skyscanner doesn’t seem to have an option for this.

I’ve seen flights on Skyscanner at a good price but when I go onto the airlines website to price the same flight as an open or flexible ticket the price rockets.

am I missing something? Is open / flexible tickets no longer an option? Am I stuck with a fixed return as the cheapest option? Is there alternatives to Skyscanner I don’t know about?

Yes a fixed return is cheapest. It’s probably better to just book a single fare each way when you know when it’ll be.

I just looked on Norse and it jumped from £92 to £251 for the flexible option vs the cheapest option.

best just to book a return but with the option to change the return date. I would be hesitant to fly to the USA atm without a return ticket tbh

Thanks folks

I’ll look at some single tickets

can you book a return with the option to change dates on Skyscanner?

don't book on skyscanner or any TP agent. only ever book directly with the airline. use SS to see what flight times etc are but always book directly with airline - you can make changes directly with them then,

Just used skyscanner as info. Book direct with the airline.

Ah okay, thank you all

I suspect it’s probably very tricky (unless your dd is a US citizen) to book an open ticket (and yes, these are always quite expensive). She will need evidence that she has a date she is exiting the US unless for certain long term visas.
