Met office is normally accurate.

RampantIvy · 16/06/2025 14:19

The one on my phone. It just says weather.

The Met Office. Usually pretty accurate.

BeamMeUpCountMeIn · 16/06/2025 14:40

Met office

DisforDarkChocolate · 16/06/2025 14:41

Met Office now, the BBC isn't as good as it used to be.

JustAMum35 · 16/06/2025 14:41

Met office or xcweather

WhoWouldBeAWoman · 16/06/2025 14:42

Netweather.tv

AudiobookListener · 16/06/2025 14:43

Another vote for Met Office. It seems to be pessimistic, so I'm often pleasantly surprised at how the weather turns out.

TheDandyLion · 16/06/2025 14:48

Metcheck or Ventusky

Greekdream · 16/06/2025 14:50

Ok thanks all, I’m going to switch to met office

Met office - but always look at the map as well as the little daily summary, as it gives a much better impression of what’s likely to happen.

charliehungerford · 16/06/2025 15:13

Metcheck is pretty good, hour by hour so good if showery.

Roaminginthegloaming · 16/06/2025 15:13

Wunderground App - my favourite as I’ve found their hourly reports to be fairly accurate and shows the air quality index.

I also love that it has a pie graph of sunrise and sunset, but also lists first light and last light.

Wunderground also has Moonrise and Moonset, the state of the moon in the lunar cycle (currently ‘Waning Gibbous’ ) and the dates of the next new moon and full moon.

For fun/sarcastic comments about the weather I also look at the ‘WTForecast’ (What the Forecast) App. When the weather is inclement it’s really funny!

For example, today’s report for where I live:

“I don’t really have anything good or bad to tell you right now. It’s like my mind is blank’

“Fu**ing Clouds” (although it’s just high clouds today).

but you still get the weather reports.

BBC stopped using the Met Office a while back. Its the best one out there for the UK (unless you are a weather nerd)

Nagginthenag · 16/06/2025 15:18

BBC was far more accurate this weekend than Met Office.

CadburyChocolate · 16/06/2025 15:18

It's worth checking where the weather observation station is for each forecaster - it's usually to be found buried somewhere on the weather page.

I used to use the Met Office, but it didn't seem that accurate. It turned out their observation station was 30 miles away! I switched to BBC weather which has a weather station just up the road and have found it much better

powershowerforanhour · 16/06/2025 15:18

Met Office weather radar. Shows forecast rain patterns for the next few days and you can click backwards on the map as well to see the actual recorded rainfall at quite close time intervals for the past couple of days as well, so you can see the fronts rolling in and watch their trajectory.

MrsTerryPratchett · 16/06/2025 15:19

WTF - what's the forecast. Sweary and funny weather, weirdly accurate.

Onthewaytothemountains · 16/06/2025 15:22

The Weather and Radar app is great for immediate forecasts over the next few hours if you're going for a walk say. It shows the clouds, rainclouds,
lightning strikes etc. Use in conjunction h BBC or Met Office for next few days.

TorturedParentsDepartment · 16/06/2025 15:29

Carrot - I like my weather with snark and a touch of homicidal AI

JingsMahBucket · 16/06/2025 16:03

I use Accuweather and Apple’s Weather app.

PauliesWalnuts · 16/06/2025 16:08

Met Office for daily stuff BUT I also use a little app called Rain Today which tells you if it's going to rain in the next hour. Great for when I'm cycling home from work and need to know whether to get my coat out, (cycling in a waterproof coat is horrible and sweaty) or just delay my ride home by 20 mins or so.

Planesmistakenforstars · 16/06/2025 16:16

I use Accuweather. Their radar and "minutecast" weather is often accurate almost to the minute. They use met office data, which the BBC stopped using a few years ago if iirc. I use Windfinder for wind strength and direction, in case that's of use to anyone else.
