Lockboxes for mobile phones

Has anyone got one of these lockable boxes for a phone?
I want to know if I can still make phone calls when it is locked. Some seem to be only with Bluetooth and headphones which I don't tend to use so would be a pain.
I need someway of making my phone unobtainable for my daughter who is becoming obsessed with social media ( and to stop doom scrolling myself at times) but obviously I want to be able to use the phone myself for calls if needed.

Just putting it away, changing password etc don't work as she just finds a way around them, kicks off so much I eventually give in ( I know I shouldn't hence going for drastic measures especially with the school holidays coming up)
Any feedback on them welcome

You don't need a lock box, you need assertiveness and parenting classes. I took parenting classes and they really helped.

Failing that, get a stupid phone. You don't need a smart phone.

You need to start parenting your daughter, not buying lockboxes.

Not the most helpful replies.
I didn't ask for parenting advice, i know it's an issue hence trying to address it.

OK I know it’s hard but they ARE the most helpful replies. A locking box is no substitute for assertiveness. It’s just not.

as a start the ‘How to Talk…’ books are great. Really helpful.

Ive no idea how much lockboxes are........ but surely would of these would do the trick. Can easily be opened if necessary but otherwise the key can easily be put away/hidden.

Log out of/uninstall social media apps and ‘lose’ the passwords for a week, kind of like a digital detox? She might find it easier to accept if you do it too. How old is she?

Face ID. Your face only. Surely, it’s a digital lockbox if the phone is literally locked unless you open it with your face. You don’t need a physical box.

I assume your dd is young enough (10 or under) to not have had her own phone yet. It’s time to sort this now with more than a box. It does not get easier unless you sort out boundaries and rules. My teen would access some lockbox and have every app installed despite parental controls in about 5 minutes if given the chance. It’s absolutely no obstacle to them. You need firm boundaries and consequences for crossing them.

A simple phone locke box during school hours feels like a fair middle ground—kids stay focused, and parents still know phones are safe and accessible if truly needed

Edited to add I’ve just seen it’s an old thread 🤦‍♀️)

I use a ‘brick’ to limit my phone use https://getbrick.app/?gadcampaignid=23372753008&gadsource=1&gclid=Cj0KCQiAxonKBhC1ARIsAIHqls018Cm8nG-S2YAMVQsUmXV8EFRN1cx7wli4Dzlfv4c9jKx6ZZEaAqgeEALwwcB&snowball=TOMY96485

It works for me to turn off everything other than calls and my medical devices BUT there are certainly ways round it so probably not the solution for a really determined kid. Helps me though!
