Cerezette - constant bleeding

I’m 48 and my GP changed me to the mini pill last November. However, I’ve had so much bleeding I’m thinking of giving up. The other night I woke up and had bled all over my bed, through a ‘super’ tampon. There was blood actually running down my legs - I’ve never had anything like it (apart from after giving birth!).
What other option do I have, at my age, for contraception, apart from condoms?
I had a blood test a few months ago to see if I was starting menopause but apparently I’m still very much ovulating etc.
Has anyone persevered with the mini pill and stopped having bleeding, after many months?

And I’ve spelled ‘Cerazette’ wrongly in the title. Damn.

I have this on Cerazette but I don’t have the same issue on Cerelle yet my doctor argues they are the same thing.

Has the bleeding been that heavy all the time? As that sounds like flooding rather than a normal bleed. Flooding can be a perimenopause symptom so I would be speaking to the GP.

However, answering your question, what about the mirena coil?

It was several years ago but my GP prescribed me Cerazette instead of my usual one saying it’s exactly the same. It wasn’t - I also bled non stop until I came off it. I just resorted to buying my original one privately from Superdrug.

Many years ago I had this on Cerazette. I ended up switching to norethisterone which is an older mini-pill and needs to be taken within a shorter window each day, but didn’t cause the constant bleeding (for me at least).

No, normally it’s like a regular period. But I’ve only had about 3 weeks in total with no bleeding, since November.
Yes, this particular alarming episode is like flooding. But my blood test not long ago showed no signs of menopause, unless things can change quickly?
I don’t want the coil at all - should have said that in my OP.

Was your ‘usual one’ also a mini pill? Just progesterone?

Thank you - will look into this.

I think the current brand name of this is Noriday.
