Shopping list if you live alone

Just wondering what everyone else does! I try to eat healthily but I do find myself going to my nearest M&S and just buying random yellow stickered things.

if you have a routine & lists, what do you get?

I’ve kind of lost my way! I don’t eat breakfast & sometimes wfh and just find myself making bland cous cous or plain pasta. DCs have flown the nest but I make a roast or big lasagne when they come bank maybe once a week.

what is on your shopping list? I like using Ocado for delivery but my shopping doesn’t cost enough to justify the delivery!

I live alone. I'm vegetarian though. I eat very healthily and even though I live alone I always make an effort to cook properly. I avoid ultra processed foods.

Breakfast - usually plain porridge oats with banana or fresh berries and coconut yoghurt (Cocolab one) and sometimes I put a couple of square of dark chocolate in there as well. I have an omega seed mix I sprinkle on top and freshly ground flaxseed.

Elevenses: non UPF bread (toasted with pure butter) with poached eggs

Lunch / dinner - I keep a medley of fresh vegetables in the fridge, namely peppers, courgettes, carrots, broccoli, fresh tomatoes
I also always have in onions and garlic and ginger.

Store cupboard:
Tinned tomatoes
Tinned chickpeas or beans
Soya sauce, sesame oil and various herbs and spices
Rice, wholemeal pasta, quinoa

In the fridge I keep fresh tofu and sometimes cheese
With this lot I can make pretty much anything I fancy for lunch or dinner, namely veg and tofu stir-fry, chickpea tagine, vegetable and bean stew, curry, etc

I try and have steamed broccoli and an avocado half with every main meal.

@NestingBird I hate cooking so I'm not the person to ask

But I'm curious to know what you mean by plain pasta. You mean with no sauce?!

for me it will be stirfry, meat two veg, fish etc etc Just the usual. But I do eat the same thing two evenings in a row. It cuts down on cooking. I have a store cupboard as with previous posters. Veg tends to be seasonal.

When on my own, I love to cook.

Steak/ chicken or salmon with roasted veg
Stir fry with assorted fresh veg, chicken or prawns for protein, with rice or noodles possibly
Risotto - to use up whatever is lurking at the bottom of the fridge, it’s more veg than rice.

I I don’t eat any pork, but do eat lamb occasionally. However the amount of carbs I eat is fairly minimal as I don’t really like them.

I’m veggie. I bought a couple of recipe books & try a recipe from one of them whenever I’ve got time at a weekend, then freeze or fridge the portions. I’ve built up a fairly good store cupboard of herbs, oils, pulses etc on the way & it also means I’ve got a choice of tested recipes when hosting.

As far as possible I use frozen veg rather than fresh - it both makes the prepping easier and means I don’t need to worry about using stuff up.

Breakfast is usually oats, Greek yogurt, a spoonful of kefir & a mix of nuts, seeds & berries.

Elevenses is coffee & a piece of 100% cocoa chocolate, tea is Ryvita or a homemade sourdough roll with cheese or nut butter.
