Which pram/pushchairs did you get and why?

Just curious, which pram/puschair/travel systems did or do you have and what did you think of them?

For my first - mamas and papas ocarro. When I realised that babies shouldn't be in car seats for more than thirty mins having a seat that moves from the car to the pram seemed like a hassle rather than a help. For my second (two year age gap) my out n about double was brilliant.

I had the Joie chrome. Mostly because the shopping basket was excellent and it's parent or outward facing. It was bloody brilliant. He won't get into even a stroller now😅

I had the uppababy vista for both of mine - it is so practical it's amazing, massive basket underneath, all so easy to use and push around baby feels so secure and happy. But if I had my time again I would chose something more stylish

Uppababy vista which is fab for two babies close together in age. Eg bassinet and seat, and then later two seats for toddlers

Babystyle egg. I loved it as it was very compact and I rely on public transport. A dream to push. It worked really well as a tandem as well with carycot and stroller seat, then two stroller seats. I also had a Phil and Ted's dot which I loved for two children. Brilliant for my oldest child to pop in and out of the tandem seat when tired. Both pushchairs lasted three children.

Never once used them with the car seat

Uppababy vista. When DD1 was about 2.5yr, we bought the uppababy minu as a travel / lightweight stroller. Then when DD2 arrived, we went back to the vista. Its not brilliant in double seat mode - I found it very unwieldy. But it was very handy to have the seat + the bassinet and then once DD2 got into the seat, DD1 could just hop on the buggy board (theres 2y9m between them). Hoping to sell the vista next year and just use the minu, once DD2 hits 2.

We used ours with the car seat a lot because DD1 was in NICU and we had lots of follow up appointments (for the first two months we had at least 2 appointments a week somewhere or other). So we'd get a taxi to hospital, then at the hospital I'd pop her in the sling and push the car seat on the buggy frame for the duration of the appointment. Then put her back in the seat to travel home. A 10mins taxi ride was far preferable to 40mins on the bus when working around feeds! You just need to be aware of the 30mins rule.

But i would say don't bother buying an infant carrier that comes in a bundle. They usually arent that great. Buy a separate avianaut pixel pro or cosmo instead. They use universal adapters so will still attach to your buggy if needed.

I would say that the uppababy wasn't even on my list to try. My internet research had my list narrowed down to the Mamas and Papas ocarro or the Bugaboo fox. But when I went to a shop to try a load of different ones, I like the uppababy far more than the rest. So its definitely worth trying to go somewhere that has a few different ones - either a big john lewis, or a Mamas and Papas or an independent baby shop.

Ocarro with travel system. I absolutely love the look of it (dark green), i still think its the nicest pram I've seen, it makes me happy every time I look at it. I find is so easy to fold, open up, add bassinet/car seat and now pram, but it is sooo heavy. I do find it hard work getting it in and out of the boot.

pimplebum · 13/06/2025 19:33

Bugaboo !!!was lovely and felt smooth and stylish
I think I’d go for cybex if I was pregnant now as it does a good car to buggy system and lies flat

funny I bought everything else second hand cheap as I could get
but went mad with the buggy and cried when I donated it loved that bugaboo!

Yoyo baby zen. We have a tiny car and boot and needed something compact. Lots of public transport too and it’s great for that. It really suited us but obviously not for everyone- wouldn’t work on muddy dog walks all the time for example.
